ESPN will rank them as the second best team in the west behind GSW for next year and Paul Pierce will say they will give the Warriors trouble.

Agreed. He seems to be taunting OKC fans that are "mad" at him for opting in. That doesn't sound like a guy that expects to play there next season.

SI Obtains Lakers Script for Apparent Paul George Pitch

The NBA free agency frenzy starts on July 1 and teams are gearing up to pitch several high profile free agents.

One of those potential free agents is Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George, who can opt out of his $20.7 million contract, but must do so by Friday.

The Los Angeles Lakers are among those teams thought to be vying for George's services.

A recruiting pitch was leaked to SI.com's Robin Lundberg and it is in form of a voiceover the Lakers plan on using with video.

The person recruited to do the voiceover was told that it should be "less Morgan Freeman/Denzel Washington, and more Jamie Foxx"?

The pitch entitled "Two Dreams" makes hints about who the pitch is for.

    The text reads:

When you were just a kid

    In your room
    Dreaming from Palmdale

    We were dreaming too.

While you dreamt, we built - built for your arrival

And while we dreamt, you built too
Becoming one of the world's greatest.

Life's most powerful dream are the one we realize ourselves.

The ones that turn us into legends.
That kid from Palmdale always knew it
    Now the world will, too

Of course, George grew up in Palmdale, Calif. and played his college ball at Fresno State.

George, 28, averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 79 games this season for the Thunder.

Meh... looks like he is going to LA to join LeBron ..... and it is only a matter of time before the Lakers get Leonard too. Maybe they decide to add someone like Walker as well. The Lakers have the assets to make it happen. Then we get to hear about the Lakers and Warriors every single day for years...... sounds like fun.

Well they'll have to settle on LA v. Boston. We know the Knicks will never be there as long as James Dolan owns the team. ;)

Lol Paul George isnt good enough to deserve a 3-part tv special for his decision. Who does he think he is, unless him and Lebron are doing it together

Could have kept Harden, but owner to cheap to pay luxury tax and Harden was only asking for $4 million more, $60 millions versus $56 million. But instead, now they are paying the $28 millions to Melo instead of Harden

the Thunder are the first franchise in NBA history to draft eventual MVPs in three straight seasons (2007-2009). (They were already the first franchise in NBA history to do it back-to-back as well with Durant and Westbrook.)

Salary Cap question: Melo is owned $28M. Say he gets bought out for $20M. Does OKC's cap reflect the $28M or $20M? Wondering if is saves them cap space to buy him out.

I believe the full amount hits the cap. The team saves buyout money and a headache, but the cap hit doesn’t change and player gets to look for a better team assuming no waiver wire pickup i think. Otherwise you’d constantly be getting buyouts.

Larry Coon's CBA FAQ seems to indicate that it is the buyout amount that is charged to your cap:
    1. A "buyout" is actually a combination of altering the player's contract to change the guarantee and/or payment schedule, then waiving the player
    2. Any guaranteed salary still owed to the player as the result of a buyout continues to be included in team salary, just as with any waived player.
