I've heard at least four different pronunciations so far. Heck, Bill and Clyde were pronouncing it differently during last night's Rockets/Bucks game.

What about EEE Gin Lin? Heard some people pronounce it that way and it sounded simple enough.

Yi is pronounced similar to the first part of "easy"

Jian is like the first part of "Giant"

Lian is like the 2nd part of "Julian"

    now put them together.

I remember before the draft, EVERYONE I heard was saying "Gillian" as in "Gillian Anderson, I love you", it was weird because that's obviously not right. I mean, it's written in English, for us to read, based on our rules, how would it possibly be that?

    Go here:

    Select "Chinese."

Copy and paste Yi's name into the text area multiple times, so that you can differentiate between the introductory notification and the actual translation:

Btw, 90% of the people here pronounce "Yao Ming" wrongly. It should be "Yao MEEE-NG"
