Jayson Stark has an interesting proposal for next year: play the semi's & the final during a week-long All-Star break. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/worldclassic2006/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=2366773 Apparently he got some positive feedback for the idea from players & management.
Yea... but that would make the actual "all-star game" merely an afterthought. Hell, the Dominican lineup is BETTER than any all-star team, and they don't have the dumb rule about how every player must be represented. I don't have any fond attachment to the all-star game, I'm just saying that this would take away from that... hell, why even have the all-star game, just have the semis and finals in the place they were going to have the game at.
Ohhhhh give me a break...It was in the 4th inning and its a bad pitch, which everyone is entitled to...
Yeah, but that one pitch may be it for the US. If Japan beats Korea tomorrow and scores less than 7 runs, the US is out.
The US should have been able to score more than that against these Japan pitchers. If they can't outslug Japan, they're not going to do it against Puerto Rico, DR, or Cuba.
