Normally, I'd agree... but you have to be able to adjust your gameplan in late inning games, where you only need 1 run to win the game, and you have a lineup that has been scuffling a ton overall lately (Altuve included). And it wasn't a "free" out... he moved Correa over (and there's always a chance, with his speed and a "well" placed bunt, he gets on base anyways). I can also play the "what if" game...If he doesn't bunt, and gets an out (which has been happening a lot prior to this series), the odds of scoring in that inning decrease even further by your scenario.
If the team doesn't score anymore this inning, I'd send McHugh back out there. Need at least a 3 run lead with Gregerson to feel comfortable.
He has plenty of options at DH, why not put somebody that can run in there that may score on a passed ball? Not like Gattis has been gangbusters.
Or Altuve could have grounded out to SS and Correa could have made it to 3rd anyways…like what just happened.
Possibly... or Altuve could have had one of the umpteen pop-outs or K's he's had over the last 2 weeks, when he's batting with RISP. Perhaps that played in his approach as well (and we really don't know for sure whether or not Altuve was bunting on his own or if it came from the bench). Would be nice to have Castro come through here.
