Yeah, that's been one of my key takeaways watching this series, since I don't watch much baseball aside from the 'Stros. Seems to remind me of how Jim Edmond always seemed to be making the plays for the Cardinals in center field when we played them.
One thing that stands out to me about this play is watching Gurriel transfer the ball from his bare hand to his glove. It's so quick that you almost miss it if you're not looking for it, plus the angle on the first showing doesn't fully show his glove hand when the transition happens. Anyways, almost feels like a magic trick
Whoah! First, hes no jim edmonds. Second, **** jim edmonds. But I do see what youre saying with taking away hits.
I ****ing love Little Jose so much. Lets just hope he doesnt pull a Josh James on us and give us hope, only to be a bullpen guy that we can sometimes rely on.
Did he actually have to do that to get the out? He could have kept it in the other hand and tagged the bag with the glove and still get the out rigjht?
The series is just tied but i got up and started watching videos of last night's game like it was game 7 or something...Feels like the Stros are back to themselves, hope they keep it going and get to Scherzer early
He didn't have to do it to record the out, but that ball is a lot f**king safer in the glove than in your bare hand. This is a play I have made a few times. It honestly happens instinctively, if you're diving head first your brain demands that hand needs to be empty.
Hinch also indicated that saving Urguidy for use later in the series was a consideration. Makes sense.
On another note, I was one of those that thought home field advantage would mean something in the WS. While its true that I thought the other team would be the Dodgers when I thought that, it doesn't change the fact that heading into gm 5, the home team has yet to win.
