    Reasonable theory (in sequence) says... First, JV hasn't surrendered many runs - 2nd, Astros haven't scored many runs (a habitual home occurrence) - 3rd, JV pitches an extra inning so the offense can hopefully score and he's credited with the W - 4th, JV faces more batters, increasing his K opportunity - 5th, Astros don't score enough, and nobody gets the W*

    *until today
