In 2015, tonight's home plate umpire (Ted Barrett) ranked as the 15th worst umpire (out of 75 surveyed) in terms of calling plays on the field, based on the number of play calls overturned by replay. Of course, calling balls and strikes requires different judgments than making safe/out or fair/foul calls, but it does seem that his eye is not quite up to par relative to the rest of the umpiring corps.
