Seems like everyone in the division kinda controls their own destiny here. Key for a good team is to have a margin of error when something goes wrong, but the Texans don't seem to have any. One big turnover and it's a loss. A referee mistake and it's a loss. Titans have shown they have some margin of error in recent weeks, but 21 was a little too much last week, and the Colts have very little. You need be able to make a mistake and still recover to go anywhere in this league long term.
Very true. Texans just aren't dynamite enough in offense especially to have larger margin for error. They have to play low-penalty, good defense ball and timely 3rd down conversions to win with small leads. They even as much give up a long punt return it puts doom on the whole game. Texans have to find ways to put up 30 points so its not some "tight containment" game they always have to play all game
I am very optimistic about this team This team is being battle tested. The last 6 weeks they should sharpen themselves against lesser defenses Rocket River
Woke up, still pissed. I didn't even know about the laser pointer thing. Any good reading material on that aspect?
On the same night. Rockets Win, Eggball Texans Lose. Houston is a happy city overall so no need for the meltdown.
At least after the BS last night I would like to see Mcnair, Smith or O'Brien stand up for his team and say we've taken this **** for far too long and call out the refs and the media. Rally this team, say it's us against the world guys, Ferk em all!
You should take a look at the TV ratings last night for the Texans game vs. Rockets when they come out...or don't, it will depress you to see how much more popular eggball is than peach basket ball.
The refs were terrible, that's a fact but this was a winnable game save for poor coaching and poor offensive play. Against a team like Jacksonville, they probably would have squeaked out a win. Against a good defensive team like the Raiders, probably not. I don't know what to make of Osweiler except to say that he sucks. He threw three balls at Raider defenders and somehow managed to come away with only one INT (that's 10 on the year). In the 4th Qtr when he could have put the Raiders away, he just throws a horrible pass over the head of his open receiver - even when his line gave him nice protection with a clean pocket. Then at the end of the game on 4th down, he locks in on the underneath receiver and completes (yet) another 5 yard pass and it was game over as the Raiders then ran out the clock. BoB fared no better as he was outcoached by Jack Del Rio. And he continued to make misstep after misstep with his decision making. For a supposedly smart coach, he sure makes dumbass decisions. I guess smart and football sense are two different things at least for him. But even with all of this, they should have won that game. Instead, they sit here 6-4 atop the AFC South. Just because they stink less than everyone else in the division does not mean that they don't carry a stench as well.
Way too much focus on the offense... How about a defense that doesn't give up a 90, 75 (one one play), and 80 yard TD drive? They had all the momentum at 20-13.... and that's when the Raiders decided to turn it on offensively.
Actually, there was... his knee was down right before the marker (they showed it on another angle). Still likely a first down, but I thought the 4th down run was much more definitive. If they weren't willing to overturn the ruling on 4th down, its doubtful they would have done it on the 3rd down spot. Spots in general are extremely subjective and significantly hard for them to overturn on replay. They should never have blown the call on the field.
Angle i saw showed his knee touching as he's falling right there. Close, but where the line to gain was, that's right on it.
the spot of the ball is where the knee touches and not where the ball is when the knee touches? I know nothing. This new joke of the nfl smh. I don't even know what a catch or a fumble is anymore.
Its where the ball is when the knee touches. If the knee touches, and the player falls forward afterwards (which is what happened here), they are instructed to spot the ball wherever it was prior to the player going forward. Its why the Hunt run was so egregious... the knee was never down till after he stretched well across the line.
