It'll probably be a month into the season before we get Clowney back, but if he recovers from surgery with no problems similar to other recent examples, and Wilfork has something left in the tank, that'll be a horrifying defensive line.
If they can draft a productive OLB and/or Merciless plays it up for his contract year, they could have a defense that is devastating. The great Patriots defenses never had a dominant player like Watt, but they had hall of famers in Seymour and Wilfork with productive pass rushers around them. If Clowney can just give us Vrabel/McGinest type production this year, Watt is Watt, Wilfork plays as well as he did last year and you get ONE MORE productive pass rusher from somewhere...oh boy.
Aliso makes sense why they signed moore who isnt great against the run but great in coverage, aint nobody running on that!
For the record... I wasn't "defending" John Lopez; I was LOL'ing at the idea that Wilfork potentially canceling meetings was some unprecedented turn of events that absolutely confirmed Lopez's story was BS. I found that a silly notion. People cancel meetings/plans all the time. That is all; carry on...
Yeah, they weren't good against the run last year, not good at all. Be interesting to see what they do for the remainder off the offseason, if anything. I think they still need another defensive lineman, rotational guy that can take Powe's job.
Nobody said cancelling meetings was unprecedented, we said the timeline was illogical. I was right. Lopez has admitted now that the story he posted isn't even what his source told him. Now it was that his source said things were looking "doubtful" on Wilfork. Somehow that story evolved into "Wilfork has left town, Texans out of the running, will sign with NE, BAL or INDY" when he wrote it down.
I think today we proved that once you make the ink on paper commitment that is penning something into the day planner, it can't be changed. Ever.
No, what we confirmed is that John Lopez is not an insider and the Texans don't break stories through 610 morning hacks that trash them.
Clowney is young and also a freak so I'm HOPING we get him back sooner then later. He is going to have to stop hanging around Swearinger tho. It just sucks he will most likely miss a majority of training camp when they could really get his conditioning up.

That's more than I would have liked hearing us spend on him, but it's essentially just a 1 year deal so it's fine. should leave about 2.5 mil left to spend.
