Houston Texans: Pat Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech I would've had the Texans going in a different direction prior to the Tony Romo news. However, Romo retired - check out my Disaster Grades for the Tony Romo retirement here - and so Houston will have to start Tom Savage unless it can find an alternative solution. That solution could be this pick, which almost has to happen now. Charlie Campbell reported that some teams have Mahomes slotted as a second-round prospect, but given that Mahomes is a quarterback, he's likely to be chosen earlier than most anticipate. The NFL Draft Advisory Committee apparently agrees, as they gave Mahomes a Round 2 grade, which means he'll be pushed into the opening frame because he's a quarterback. Thus, it only seems logical to slot Mahomes into this spot, because if the Texans like him, they won't be able to obtain him with their second-round selection. *** OTHER 2017 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: *** 1. Deshaun Watson, QB - I think it's either Mahomes or Watson. There's a greater chance Watson is off the board. 2. Cam Robinson, OT - If Robinson falls, and both quarterbacks are off the board, the Texans could opt for the Alabama tackle. http://walterfootball.com/draft2017_1.php
Look, that's been my question all along. You are quoting the wrong person. Everyone is defending Rick as being stellar in his choices and options for getting us the best QB he could since he has been here, and I just find that hard to believe. It can't all be Bob. Maybe I am wrong, but something just makes me wonder if he could have done better.
Hindsight is everything. Maybe they had the best guy all along, and screwed up by trying to get anyone but Savage. They should know more than anyone what he was capable of though.
This whole conversation is pointless anyway because it doesn't even matter any more. It's not like we even really know what goes on in Rick and Bob's brains anyway, and they hide the truth somewhere in those conversations they have with the media. I don't have a lot of faith in either, but do have a lot of hope things do finally get better and work out. I can't imagine things getting any worse at the QB position, but that isn't as satisfying to me as seeing us pick someone who could actually be exciting for our future. That was why I wanted Mahomes, and I wasn't the only one, but there are many who will argue that too, so I am done with the conversation. I just hope we get our best QB in the draft that we can.
Happy misinformation week! http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2017/s...predictions-all-32-teams-round-1-trades-picks The Texans won't select a quarterback in the first round. That might change if a quarterback they really like falls to them at pick No. 25 or they see a huge opportunity to trade up. Otherwise, they will use their top pick on a right tackle: either Alabama's Cam Robinson, Utah's Garett Bolles or Wisconsin's Ryan Ramczyk. They know they need to fill that position after the struggles the offensive line had following Derek Newton's injury last season. -- Sarah Barshop http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/04/24/...draft-myles-garrett-mitch-trubisky-peter-king I won’t be surprised if the Giants (seeking a tackle), scheduled to pick 23rd, or the Texans (seeking a quarterback), scheduled to pick 25th, move up into the teens. Baltimore (16) and Tennessee (18) would be happy to move down.

I think Foster said the same thing but he also had that incident where he got sent home from the combine
Outside of something happening to Watson between now and Thursday, what possible scenario could exist that would cause the Texans not to take him should he be available at 25? You'd think we would have heard by now if he's just bombing his workouts and interviews.
The only ones that are realistic are Dak, Wilson, Mccarron and Jimmy. For Jimmy, they want too much. Mccarron is an unknown, much like Jimmy. Dak was a mid round find put in the right situation, that many teams missed out on. He's obviously the one that got away. For about fifteen teams. Russ was another mid round find, with echoes of Dak. The Texans weren't in QB search mode then, either.
Just lots of water according to him. Foster did the same thing. Guys do it to make themselves weigh more
