With how weak the class is, there's no telling who might be considered the top prospect at the position by the GM's around the league. There's absolutely no clear cut #1 guy and just about everyone has red flags that likely should push them out of the first round altogether. In most classes, you kind of know which QB's are going to go early and which are going to slide to later rounds, this one is almost a complete mystery.
LOL if only the Texans had cared more in week 17 and decided to get that win how different it would make the narrative......oh well yet another year of whining about a divisional championship and a playoff win.
Strength of schedule, poor division, luckiest playoff matchup ever. Pretty sure one win wouldn't change the narrative. Especially when other wins at the end of previous seasons were caused by other teams not caring. They have a good defense (great if Watt is healthy and KJ grows and stays healthy) and terrible offense resulting in an average to slightly above average football team that recently has been letting starters go and replacing them with question marks.
Don't want to get in between you and btg but doesn't it make sense that when we shouldve won the game against the raiders with their starting qb in Mexico City, that we couldve easily have won that "luckiest matchup ever" as well? Plus pair that should be win in Mex City with the last game of the season, which couldve easily have been a win, and the Texans are sitting at 11-5. All this without a qb with any sense or a pair of cajones. This is a team that is definitely on a treadmill and will continue to be without a true qb but to say that we had a bad season or whatever most of you guys are saying, is complete garbage.
I said they have been average to slightly above average, not bad. They absolutely showed up in Mex City and should have won. I don't know if they win against a healthy Raiders in the playoffs, that was the issue with terrible QB play - you never knew when Brock would implode. They are in mid-level hell and don't seem to have a plan. The offense and QB play has gotten worse the last three years with an offensive head coach. The defense has been legit.
It's quite possible we're on the treadmill until Vrabel takes over as HC. Even though he got the DC job here, I think the real reason is becuase they have made him a verbal commitment that he is the next HC. OB is a lame duck coach IMO (I personally don't have a lot of issues with his coaching, but rather his talent evaluation).
I used to think the same way about O'brien but this past year makes me doubt his coaching ability; especially on offense. He definitely has had some really bad moments on offense the past couple of years. I think he really needs a competent OC but we'll see.
By advanced metrics, we were one of the worst teams in the league. Every team has a game they "should have won" but didn't. The defense was top 10, but it could not make up for a historically bad offense. Lucky our division opponents were as bad or worse. And we have only gotten worse this off season while continuing to mortgage the future.
I don't think much of McNair personally but doubt he'd make such a commitment. First, we have no idea how Vrabel will perform as DC. And in all honesty, we may not really know as long as RAC is still here. Second, if this ever leaked, it would do a ton of harm to the franchise with regards to future hires and possibly player personnel too. Making him DC was as good as it could get for him at the time IMO, there was no need to go beyond that. But no doubt things will get very interesting for him if the D performs.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nking-the-position-groups-in-this-draft-class Every draft class is different. Certain positions are considered much stronger with better overall depth than others. As a result, multiple draft boards exists among every NFL franchise. For example, teams don't just use a vertical board ranking all of the prospects by their particular grades. There are also horizontal boards that are position-specific. This year, the defensive back class is as deep as any in recent memory. Meanwhile, the offensive line class is quite poor. In fact, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah spoke with an NFL offensive line coach who called this year's crop of blockers the worst he's seen in 15 years, per Philly.com's Paul Domowitch. Organizations build their offseason plans around how they stack their boards based on positional value, depth and overall strength. In an attempt to gain a better understanding of this year's draft makeup, we ranked each position class from the thinnest to the most bountiful.
