smh....7 losses already. and the AFC south continues to tease us as the other members aren't playing well either.
9 years of mostly bad to sometimes mediocre football, and he's the only constant. the highlight of the franchise's existence is one 9-7 season. he's not a bad owner...he just not a particularly good one.
meh. frankly, the biggest, most publicized, polarizing, and memorable moment in franchise history was the 2006 dr... nm forget i said anything.
He can't be absolved - accountability starts with him. He's the guy that lacked the nerve to jettison Casserly/Carr/Capers in one shot following the 2-14 season. Worse, he INSISTED that any new coach keep Carr as a starter and gave him a 3 year extension when he was a clear cut failure. When it was unignorable that Richard Smith had to be fired, he was okay with Kubiak drawing from the same buddy pool and not taking an honest look at outside candidates. Never has McNair shown that he expects results. He hasn't shown that he'll stretch the budget when a FA at a need position becomes available. He's loyal and patient to a fault, and that has to be balanced with accountability and a willingness to enact change. I wanted the Texans to look for a "next level" coach last January, after Kubiak helped mismanage the team to 9 wins in an 11 win season and miss the postseason. Instead, McNair locked him up with another one of those 3 year extensions. Now, that extension is a big reason why we may not let him go this year. It's surprising, since the best businessmen know that replacing the bottom 10% of your staff is traditionally a successful business practice. McNair seems unable to honestly evaluate his team.
I wouldn't disagree with that. They have a good qb, an excellent rb and the best wr in football not to mention the complimentary pieces they have on offense. They pretty much have Williams and Ryans on defense and that's it.
Cushing too I would spend 1 pick on a receiver, but the rest should all be defense. ALthough personally, I would like a veteran corner, not yet another rookie.
