when you ask merciless to rush the qb, he gets there. when he is asked to cover, which is his role when clowney is in, he becomes invisible. first game in the six we've played, that we sent more than 4 players on a pass rush 35% of the time. last year we seemed to do it every game.
They were in a can't win situation. If they win, it looks bad because its "only" the Jags and the team should be tanking. If they lose, its "man, they can't even beat the Jags!".

Brian Hoyer leads the Texans to their first road victory of the season, 31-20, over Jaguars. Oh I never said Bortles was good. Just that I dont think the Jags will draft a QB with whatever first round pick they have next year.
its not that. No one cares if Hoyer had a good game because he's not a long-term solution nor will he lead us to the playoffs..its more who the f is going to be the QB of the future to make the texans relevant again? Answer: (probably) no-one on the current roster. This year is kind of a waste.
Im just surprised that the Texans actually look for their play makers in the endzone...Hopkins is just a beast...5 TDs in 6 games. 4th 100 yd game in a row...this year's breakout #1 WR in football(and especially in fantasy)
Well if he's not good, why wouldn't they? Oh yeah, its because teams that consistently fail at developing young QB's end up right where the Jags, Browns, and Titans are. Arizona is actually showing you the benefits of going after veteran castoffs (they've struck gold twice).
Despite the struggles this season, the young players have played well this season. Johnson, Mckinney, Clowney, Hal, Blue, Strong (pinch), Mumphery and Prosch haave been contributing solidly.
He's been bad to start the season, and has been injured for, I think two games? If we don't tank, that means we try to win every game. We've been doing that, and so far, it's resulted in us being 2-4. We're probably on pace for 7-9 or something like that, which is mediocre. Being mediocre means 0% chance of improving. Tanking and getting a high draft pick means better than 0%.
good point....Texans can't beat the colts with the vet castoff Hasselbeck with the flu...heck I thought he was retired.
That's a pretty lofty record considering this team couldn't beat a 40 year old QB at home last week. Again, if they're thad bad/far off, results will speak for themselves. If they're good enough to salvage the season with 8-8, its far more entertaining and still something they can build on. If anything, everybody here should know that tanking or getting the #1 pick guarantees nothing as far as future HOFers, quick turnarounds, or building a "dynasty". There's also no such thing as an NFL team waddling in mediocrity without eventually bottoming out or busting through (and the Texans have done that before as well). This isn't the NBA.
We just are not that good. That team with any qb is better than us. Texans are in the Bucs, Jags, Browns, Titans, Bears level. We can beat the easier teams, may win against a good team this year but overall 5 or 6 wins is all it will be.
lulz

Hoyer says he stayed down little extra long to draw penalty on the rough hit. So, Mallett takes himself out thinking he'll get to come back in...while Hoyer fakes it thinking he never has to come out. Speaks volumes to the intelligence difference between the two.
A lot of the top teams drafted their core in the middle areas. Seattle only core player they drafted in the top 10 of each rounds is Russell Okung. They got Russell Wilson in the later rounds. Cardinals only core player they got from being very bad was Patrick Peterson. They got their QB from trading for him. Ravens drafted Flacco with the 18th pick, and have reloaded constantly over the past years with upper tier picks. Patriots drafted Brady very late and all of their core were picked in the mediocre-bad regions in the draft. Bengals got A.J Green with the 4th pick, and Dalton with the 4th pick in the 2nd round. But you can argue you could trade up for the guy you like. And all of their draft picks since have been in the late region and are still nabbing top guys. Packers got Rodgers late and have constantly been relying on the draft as their main method for team building. And they've managed to keep adding talent. List goes on and on. Being mediocre doesn't mean you have a 0% shot at improving. There are multiple ways to improve.
