It would be nice to see the Mets and us in the WS since we owe them an asskicking. It would be nice to see us vs. anybody in the WS.
Yeah, you never know with pitchers early in ST, they might be fiddling with a new grip on a pitch, or an arm angle, or a new pitch, or they may have a dead arm, or they may just be focusing on 1 breaking ball. You'll never know unless they tell you.
If they suck all spring, I'm generally worried (pitchers more than hitters), but individual outings don't really matter, especially early in the spring.
I remember the year Shane Reynolds got cut after Spring Training, he said he was surprised he got cut, even though he didn't perform well. He said in an interview that if he knew he had to pitch to get outs, he would've, but he was just working on his curve throughout the Spring.
Usually players know going in if they are competing for a job and most frequently the team makes competitions known. Shane Reynolds was 35 years old, coming off a bad injury plagued season. He probably should have realized his spot wasn't guaranteed, though that team did have a weak rotation.
Yup, he'll get picked up by somebody though. Hopefully Lunhow can get at least a little something for him.
Guys like him are doing more than competing for a spot on the team, as they know they are also being looked at by 29 other teams.
