Wallace is NOT in a platoon situation, once in a while I guess, but I agree with the overall point. Dam, seeing Kyle Drabek warmup makes me feel OLD.
I still remembering being giddy when we signed Drabek and Swindell. First BIG free agent signing I can remember, in my Stros viewing lifetime. Kyle throws harder than his old man, Doug was a master at control and his offspeed stuff was 2nd to none. Kyle does have his daddys curveball, though.
Pence NEEDS to get that runner home, just can't trust Lee to drive him in right now. By the way, I'm loving the grey/red combo the Stros are wearing now. About time they laid off so much of the road reds.
If memory serves, the announcement was the high point. They didnt live up to their reputations. I remember after that initial feeling of "yea, were going somewhere now" to "****, what went wrong here".
Yea, Swindell was the TRUE bust. Drabek was good in his first year but got horrible run support while his second season was also real good, even made the all star team. He declined after that but Swindell was pretty below average his whole time here. Nice job by Wandy, ump missed the third strike but he recovered. BIG play by Barmus, after yesterday, he needs a few of those.
I understand that in relative terms Towles is barely getting to the equivilant of a full season but he has been HORRIBLE as an offensive player and simply average to below average defensivly. Time to cut the cord and bring up another scrumb who might actually do something productive. I understand Towles wasn't in their plans before Castro went down but dam. DAM BOURN...what the hell was that rainbow?!?
watch what you say...there are still people on this board who think he is good and hasn't gotten enough of a look yet. can't wait till crane cleans some of the filth like him out of the organization.
About to post how Melancon has all the tools of a good closer... throws strikes, can strike people out, and has a killer instinct mentality. Then, a slow grounder 2-out infield single leads to a bases loaded situation with the game on the line.
