Just goes to show you how truly arbitrary W-L records are for pitchers... they're soon going to go the way of RBI's and batting average went when judging how truly great a hitter is.

Archer has great stuff no doubt but the Astros have been making guys with far less stuff look dominating as well. With their approach this lineup is becoming easy to pitch to.

The Astros hitters make no adjustments. Hudgens, the batting coach, must be accountable.

Lowrie should be playing everyday NOW. It's baffling why Valbuena and Gattis currently play everyday still.

This. The offense is really struggling right now.

Lowrie should be playing everyday NOW. And I'm really hoping Springer can make the difference like everyone thinks he will but who knows how he will respond after his latest injury.

because we still have 55 games left? Lowrie has had a history of injuries and was hurt this year? Try and get other guys going also? Gattis has been hot this year before, though I agree he should get days off certainly. Valbuena is hitting near .300 over the last few weeks (and does get days off--he's not every day)?

Lowrie has 100 points on Rasmus when it comes to OPS. Lowrie is playing over Valbuena (huge difference), Rasmus would be playing over Tucker (little difference).

Rasmus as a hitter is also a lot like the other high K hitters. I like Rasmus better than Carter and Valbuena. Rasmus has won us a few games, I wouldn't mind him at first or if we had a team of high contact punching Judys. I just don't like the fit on this team when you already have low OBP guys like Valbuena, Carter and Gatis.

How did you feel about it earlier in the game when it helped prevent hits a couple of times?

Would put Qualls in now. Cabrera is markedly better as a RH.

Gattis and Valbuena are just not consistent enough. Both have stretches but collectively are just not consistent enough. Need more dependability in the lineup. So basically you feel Lowrie shouldn't be an everyday player? I know he's injury prone but if he's healthy currently, he should play.

Astros and A's are very good at the shift. Supposedly it may be made illegal. The commish was asked about and said it would he discussed over winter. Nightengale was on the radio and said a lot of the less innovative owners are going to try to get it banned. Also some minor league games will have a ticker for pitchers to make a pitch or it will be called a ball. They are going to experiment to see if it will cause issues with pitcher health.
