Doesn't matter who the #1 seed is... Nantz/Simms will do whichever is perceived to be the bigger game. Houston and Boston are much bigger markets than Baltimore and Denver, and it's not as if the latter game is perceived to be any "closer".
Players still have to make a play. But there is something wrong and the coach derserves a certain amount of blame. I don't think Martin is a quality kick returner...although I do think he does better on punt returning. I also think the depth of the team has been a factor. LB crew is thin and has been rotating all year, Backup linemen are young and the backup secondary has been left wanting. Bottom line, I don't think the problem is just coach deep. I'm glad Daniel is back there though. Dring the regular season they tried to make it work, and that's fine considering how important Daniel is, but now it's time to not hold back.

Don't get embarrassed, and stay healthy. A win would be awesome, but I'm definitely not expecting a win here. Best chance the Texans have IMO is if a key Pats player gets hurt and it affects their offense somehow.
SIGH. I don't expect victory but the Houston Texans will be legends in my eyes if they pull this off.
Kubiak always takes the ball when the Texans win the coin toss. On the other hand, Belichick always defers when the Pats win the toss. That means the Texans will get the ball first no matter who wins the toss. In the week 14 matchup New England won the toss and elected to defer, giving the ball to the Texans first. Kubiak has been asked before why he likes to receive the opening kickoff instead of deferring. He's said that he likes the opportunity to score first. He's also said that he gets an extra possession if they take the ball first. I don't quite understand that answer since I have never seen evidence suggesting that a team gets an extra possession if they get the ball first. The media has never asked him to clarify so it is kind of vague what he meant by that statement.
We're overdue for some breaks as far as with the turnovers. I think this is the game that Kubiak finally opens up the playbook on offense and we finally catch some breaks with fumbles and some picks. Been a while since we had a Watt tipped pick.
any Texans fan knows we ALWAYS receive if we win the coin toss. the extra possession in theory is the 1st half only and also if TOP is equal. having less possession overall could be a great thing if you are winning the TOP and the other team is going 3 and out all day. TOP is important not the # of possessions. Belichick at home will always kickoff because it's easier for the home crowd to be fired up at the beginning of the game. If you receive and send the offense out there the crowd has to quite down relatively speaking. So we will get the ball first and a nice 6+ minute drive to quite the crowd and keep brady on the bench would be a dream start. A 3 and out would be horrible.
Kubiak's MO is to get an early lead and sit on it. Therefore, he wants the ball first. By the time the 2nd half starts, he hopes to already be ahead and in "not to lose" mode so there's no point in deferring.
And I hope he's changed that way of thinking because it just doesn't work against high scoring offenses.
