Correct. He’s a good 4th starter. Not the best #3, but he’s passable. Really wish we would’ve kept Morton.
Yeah I’d like to see an upgrade at number 3 but I have as much confidence in Miley as I did in Keuchel going into the playoffs last year. Fairly neutral. He’s a solid mid rotation guy but definitely upgradeable.
For sure. But there was legitimate concern with his shoulder and it remains to be seen if he can carry this much load in and through the playoffs. Love that guy though.
I wish Corbin Martin didn't get hurt. He'd be a prime trade chip along with JBB. Marcus Stroman Mad Bum Noah Syndergard One of the three have to be on this team. These short outings from the starters is going to take a huge toll come October.
Wheeler>Syndergaard. Doesn't have the "star power", but much better stuff (though he is, sadly, a rental). Better than Bumgarner, too.
One thing that concerns me about Miley, as good as he's been this year, is his injury history, and that he's not a durable innings eater like JV and Cole are, having pitched <190 innings the last 3 years. I think that's why he went unsigned for so long and we got him as cheap as we did. I really like him, and trust him, but we should proceed with caution with regards to his workload.
Last night was the 2nd time franchise history 2 position players pitched for Houston in a game. Other occurrence was May 21st 1989 also vs PIT (Craig Reynolds and Greg Gross). Pirates won 17-5 at the Dome.
Speaking of Wheeler, he just broke up Aaron Nola's no-hitter, while dueling with a 1-hit shutout of his own. Yes, the pitcher. Not that this is something we look for, especially as an AL team, but he's a solid hitter, batting north of 300 with a homer this year. That would come in handy for the WS. Just pointing it out. Sorry if I'm starting to talk about him a lot, I'm just falling in love with his pitch arsenal.
