To make it clear, the starting front 3 would be Watt, Wilfork, and Crick. Smith doesn't have the ability to be an every down starter, and even when he was still here he couldn't stop the run. Crick was better on early downs while being his backup very early on in his development. Smith would be a great get, but he would be relegated to a situational pass rusher, and spot holder while Crick/Watt (sometimes) are taking a breather. He can still pressure like get out, but he's a liability on rushing downs.
Brandon Boykin any good? : <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Report: Eagles willing to deal slot CB Boykin <a href="http://t.co/WStd7OeVN9">http://t.co/WStd7OeVN9</a></p>— Rotoworld Football (@Rotoworld_FB) <a href="https://twitter.com/Rotoworld_FB/status/583302827050594304">April 1, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Interesting. Slot guy, pretty productive despite being over 30 (just barely). Caught 40 balls last year for 650 yards, 58 the year before 920 yards. Consistently has high YPC. Hope it's cheap.
I think this has been a really well run offseason personally. Lots of quality, nothing game changing, but allows you to not go into the draft desperate for a particular position. Hopefully they add Antonio Smith for the minimum or close to it and then find either a veteran safety or offensive lineman in that range as well.
it's sad we were never able to make these kind of quality depth signings at WR when AJ was in his prime...
Texans have to move on from Keshawn, he's been a mediocre player. Not good on special teams, non-existent on offense. Can't run routes, can't catch passes and can't excel at returns? Time for him to go. Posey is likely cut as well depending on the rest of the offseason. Right now your receivers are Hopkins/Shorts/Washington. They have to add a receiver in the draft or free agency that can take over return duties, so that will be your 4th. I don't think they will carry Posey personally, because just like last year, he can't play on this team unless he's the starting #2. My bet, those 3 are your top 3 receivers and then they draft 2 guys, 1 a returner and 1 a potential starter. Also have DJohnson on the team still. Don't know what they gave him in guaranteed money, but he could be cut as well. Just not special. He's probably competing with Nate Washington for a roster spot honestly.
where does D Johnson fit into this? he can handle the return duties and saw substantial slot time last year. agree with your assessment of potential cuts
He CAN handle return duties, but he's not very good at it either. OB said in a breakfast conference that improving the return game and return coverage was a major priority. I said this on Texanstalk, but I won't be surprised if Hopkins is the only holdover from the Kubiak regime this year. Crazy that after one season OB would have dumped every WR on the roster but one lol.

Should be a good WR competition going into camp. And if one of those top 3 WR prospects drops to us in the draft....whoooo doggy!
Its funny how BOB came in and started to shred everyone who was part of the kubiak offense. He looked at the receiving roster and said hell naw. Kubiak was awful!
