Would definitely go for this. Guy is only 28 and can still be a valuable WR. Not sure why he hasn't produced lately.
I don't understand why this is the case. Seems like someone should want a QB, even if his pricetag is ridiculous.
Wide receivers can fall off the cliff fast so it's hard to know if that's why, if it's because of bad quarterbacks or if it's a combination of both.
Well his last 2 QB's were EJ Manuel and Colin Kaepernick....I think that pretty much explains a lot of it.
Well the hard cap makes it really rough. not many teams have the 26 mil or whatever it would take to trade for him.
His base salary is over $18 million. That's what counts for the team trading for him. This year it's $18 million and next year it's $19 million. Texans can't afford $18 million.

so free agency "ends" at 4 central today? What does that mean exactly? What is the next phase for signing players, etc? thanks!
Who does Clutch put on the top of the Texans home page? It's time to say goodbye to Dre, and say hello to JJ. Go Texans!

Sure they can; right now, they're $11.15MM under the cap. Cutting JJo and Graham puts them $22.07MM under. You would ordinarily set aside ~$5MM for your draft pool. But a deal for Brees is almost certainly going to cost you picks so you won't use the full estimated amount. I don't know how much you'd lop off but you could squeeze $18MM into this cap. I would guess they could restructure Cushing's deal, too - and the big silver bullet: couldn't they restructure JJ's deal? (Or is it disallowed to extend/restructure in the same year?)
I thought about him - in fact, he was what got me thinking... but didn't they extend him last offseason?
