For all of his campaign's craziness, he's never wavered from the fact that his only goal was to beat Trump. I thought his ego might get in the way and keep him in the race a bit longer, but kudos to him. Thousands of staffers and an amazing data operation all working to help Biden is going to be huge.
PLOT TWIST: Bernie Sanders holds a press conference where Bloomberg and Obama come out to NWO music and both announce they are backing Sanders AND Sanders and Bloomberg have reached an agreement where Sanders will used Bloomberg's assets to beat Trump...... then Michelle Obama comes out and Bernie says she will be his Vice Presidential choice. Not happening.
Amen! Another domino falls. Bloomberg said he would put his fortune behind the Democratic nominee with the best chance of winning in November. He is endorsing Joe Biden. It’s time for Mr Bloomberg to show us the money. Joe Biden also desperately needs an intelligent, experienced organization behind him. That Joe has accomplished as much as he has with an “empty wallet” and few people on the ground is remarkable. He spent $18,000 in Massachusetts and won. trump has a limitless bankroll thanks to the ultra rich, who he keeps rewarding, and the election in November won’t be won on a shoe string. Bloomberg can help with both the funds to match trump’s massive, growing war chest, and in quickly building an organization. Bloomberg is worth $68 billion dollars. Unlike trump, who won’t spend his own money, Bloomberg can afford to do what he has said he will do. We’ll see if he does.
He has a huge and top-tier staff and data and analytics operation, and he's already committed to paying them through November to work to help elect the Dem nominee. Bloomberg entering and building the operation and then immediately dropping out is the absolute best thing that could have happened to Biden. By many accounts, it's more sophisticated than anything the DNC has.
And repubs can't really claim this money a shadowy, conspiratory, deep state, Soros type of funds. Bloomberg was out in the open with clear national policy proposals/goals as a presidential nominee. Just a philanthropist looking to save democracy in a most effective way he can. Hope he pulls through with his promises to DNC
I have heard that and it’s what I’m hoping for. We will need every bit of it to defeat trump, who will be totally in the gutter and digging with a shovel, backed by hundreds of millions of dollars from his ultra rich backers. Sadly, many of Bernie’s own backers will be screaming bloody murder and believing bizarre conspiracy theories, many likely pumped out by those behind trump. I would love be wrong about that. I’m not very optimistic, based on the early reaction to the vote yesterday.
Waste $700 million on ads and ground game for a vain, fruitless attempt at becoming President? Mike got it done!
His goal was to ensure a moderate nominee and he got it. He also wanted the best chance to beat Trump and push progressive causes, and his campaign infrastructure will help both Biden and all the downballot candidates across the board. Beyond that, $700MM is nothing to him. If he just dumps all his money in treasury notes, he makes that much in 4 months in interest.
