I've never understood Ausmus' morbid fascination with looking at every ****ing pitch.

Who should feel worse: the Astros for their up-till-now inability to score on Aaron Sele, or the Mets for the same ineffectiveness against Brian Moehler?

He's a catcher. That's what he does all night. He just can't shake that habit when he's batting.

Freaking Beltran goes 0-6 the whole game and now he gets a hit.

Well, Pence did the same thing.....It just didn't happen when there were runners on.

This would be a painful game to lose. But when a game runs this long, it often comes down to luck. It's a miracle the bullpen held up for 8+ innings before Moehler got...well....Moehlered.

Play of the game was Reyes attempting to steal second. Otherwise, Gotay hits into a routine 6-4-3.

We left 6 runners in scoring position. The Mets left 3.

Just got back from the game. I guess I am starting to come to the realization that this year's team just doesnt have it. I know I will wake up tomorrow and believe all over again, but I just cant help thinking how many opportunities to gain ground in the race we have passed up. The Brewers lost again tonite.

The other thing is that in playoff years, the Astros alwasy found ways to win these types of games. The last two years they have found ways to lose them.

    2006

18 inning loss to the Pirates
18 inning loss to the Cubs

    2007

17 inning loss to the Mets

Well, here is to hoping they win tomorrow and go 7-4 into the break.
