Let’s start to turn this thing back in the right direction. Oklahoma is a little too close for my liking in the division.
This year has been weird. Astros have already lost 5 games by 10 or more runs. Here's how that compares to recent team history. Losses by 10 or more runs 2019 YTD: 5 2018: 0 2017: 4 2016: 4 2015: 1 2014: 4 2013: 6 I'm not sure what to make of it, if anything. Lack of consistent SP and bullpen depth? League wide HR rates? Other than wreaking havoc on the team's pythag it counts the same as losing a close game.
Man, it's a shitty feeling when you don't think you can win unless your starters give you 8 innings....and even then it's iffy.
We gotta take Seattle seriously. Even though they’re the bottom half in batting average they’re top 3 in runs and home runs. I can see them hitting at least three hr each game against us.
I thought so too, but it only explains Wednesday's blowout. The rest would have been >10 runs without Tyler White in the 9th.
10 is a little bit extreme for this analysis, IMO. By the time you're getting close to losing by 10, you're already past the tipping point of coming back and you're just trying to get the game over with. I'd be more interested in the losses around the tipping point, which I'd say is probably 4-6 runs depending when those runs are scored in the game. The game's right on the cusp of being in or out of reach at that point. That would tell you a little more about the resilience of a team.
My biggest loss in little league was 25-2. So it can get worse. But like Shaq said, "We were up 20 on them dudes and when I looked over at Olajuwon he was oozing leadership." Astros must lean on the pillars to prevent future tragedies.
These jerseys aren’t flattering. Rainbows are much better but it’s cool to pull these out every once and a while. Better than the pinstripes we opened Enron with.
