You're right.... he's about 2-3x the player, both in baseball terms and in actual reality of height/stature. (and before somebody comes back with some WAR data showing he's not actually 2-3x better... its ok, I know).

I hear ya, but it's coming from the same whacked out mind that thinks the Dixie Chicks are better then the Eagles.
I didn't mind fiers not being pulled earlier. It was all a very quick avalanche for fiers. Happy was eventually going to get got since he's been nearly perfect in his role. But that doesn't mean one can't critique some of hinch's decisions. Happy was already warming up in the bullpen before the 3rd homer was launched. He wasn't going to let what happened with fister earlier in the week happen again. Then you saw us walk a couple of mariners, where as to before, they would have challenged said mariners in the same situation.
Harper would be way more valuable on the open market, but reality is their production gap isn't much. This year and 2 years ago, Altuve has clearly outperformed Harper. In between Harper had one of the greatest seasons ever. The big differences are in that Harper is 2.5 years younger, has proven he can carry monster numbers over the course of a full season, and has more God given talent. Even factoring in contract (Altuve is at 3 years $17M remaining while Harper has 2 years of arbitration), I imagine every team would take Harper.
NASA classifies sky color into the following: Deep blue (unusually clear) Blue (clear) Light blue (somewhat hazy) Pale blue (very hazy) Milky (extremely hazy) These of course are most common. There are others. But they are rare.
I wonder the same at times. It was a typical, traditional managerial move to go with the 7th, 8th and 9th inning guys, except it was the 6th-8th inning guys with Harris out. EDIT - and if we continue exercising, up-downs are next.
It wouldn't matter if Altuve hit .400 for the year. You'd still think he was a limited player. So I now I am talking to the wall here, BUT Let me just say this: for the amount of hype Bryce Harper has gotten, he should be a Mike Trout type of player. So are you willing to trade Trout for Harper? Yes or no? If the answer is no, then you realize that stats matter. I don't want to hear anything about his age either. You wanna know what Ken Griffy Jr was doing by age 23? Altuve is Tony Gwynn with a bat. The best hitter in the game. Harper has 1 season of great numbers and bunch of hype that he ain't living up to. But of course Atuve is 5'5', which apparently makes this stupid comparsion a valid argument.
Ted Williams vs. Jose Altuve vs. Joe Dimaggio vs. Bryce Harper vs. Mike Trout vs. Barry Bonds vs. Albert Pujols
I would?!.... And you're saying the reigning NL MVP, who has a 1.037 OPS and 175 OPS+ since the start of last year, isn't?... I thought we were comparing Altuve to Harper? And are you genuinely suggesting, if I wouldn't trade the best player in baseball for the... potentially 2nd best player in baseball... that that astonishing admission somehow devalues the 2nd best player in baseball?... Would you trade Altuve for Trout? No? Well, then - I guess Altuve isn't as good as you think he is.... That Trout is possibly the *only* player Washington would consider trading Harper for undermines whatever faulty premise you're trying to set-up. Tony Gwynn didn't use a bat?... I'm so confused. No; Harper has 1 season of mythical production, a great sophomore season and is in the midst of putting together another great season currently. And he's 23. The best is yet to come. As good as Altuve has been, no GM in baseball would trade Bryce Harper for him. Again, his trade market is pretty much Mike Trout. Yeah, I have no idea what you're talking about.......
