Here's a revelation for you: Biden needs more than the usual Black vote. Did Black people vote for Hillary?
But you agree about the BLM people? You agree the Bernie situation is the same as last time (Trump victory)?
You think women voters are more pumped or less pumped than they were for Hillary?

Yeah, Obama used to start talkin' folksy, to the folks. It's a grand tradition in politics. Still might be funny though.

Some blue people here talk down to me: I probably voted Democrat for president more times than they did.

You guys voting Harris in 2028: you think you have choice? 24 hours ago, you didn't even know you were voting Harris in 2028. Great politics, guys.

For some reason Republicans spam some of her history on policy trying to debase her, but... she did the things the Republicans pretend to support? So.. go ahead and vote for her then? Lulz?

My vote isn’t decided for 2024 or 2028 because it is dictated by the candidates chosen by the Democratic or Republican Party in each presidential election. I’m voting for Joe Biden because Donald Trump is so terrible he has to be removed from office under any circumstances. Voting along party lines regardless of the candidate is a lazy practice and too many Americans do it. If, by chance, the Republicans clean up their party and get their house in order, they may have a candidate worth considering. Do I consider it likely? No, but the possibility exists.

You are a college professor that has been vocal on this forum in expressing your disgust at reopening schools without appropriate COVID-19 safety protocols in place and the spread of the virus not contained, but instead of helping remove the administration (Trump) that is endangering your health and the health of your loved ones by leading the movement to reopen schools across America, you are going to essentially throw away your vote because you feel the Democratic Party isn’t listening to you. If you opt not to vote or vote for an independent because you don’t like either candidate, you are helping Trump more than Biden. Four more years of Trump is a direct threat to the democratic process that allows candidates who actually align with your interests and values to win office in the future. There is a real risk that Trump will try and abolish two term limits for presidents and stay in power forever. He’s already been asked if he would gracefully accept losing the 2020 election, and he said he would have to think about it. That’s an answer that should scare all of us.

If anyone says again that the MSM is a Dem mouthpiece today I'm going to scream. They are so predictable. Of course the first thing they want to talk about with the Kamala pick is "But... what is Trump saying about this pick?"

I swear anytime a Trumper farts its breaking news. Who gives a crap about what Trump thinks. What him and his cult are going to say about anyone that was going to be picked would be the same BS. Why is that even covered? Why is it BREAKING NEWS that Trump said the VP pick is "Nasty" or "Radical Left" etc. etc. etc. Who gives a F$ck?

If openly supporting the Assad regime's genocide in Syria means you're an "independent thinker" then yes I'm scared of people like that.

I'm fine with the choice. I'd have liked someone more progressive. I'd have liked the presidential candidate to also be more progressive. But a conservative, corporate Democrat might be the best thing for us in this moment. Biden is just playing the election safe, which is enough for me right now. That last thing I need is for Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and give us another 4 years with Il Duce. And I also fear progressives' vengeance for the Trump years and then the conservative boomerang that would follow after that. We need to tamp this political volatility and division down. So, I'm not in love with the Biden/Harris ticket, but it's ok.

As for 2024 and thereafter, yeah, it gives Harris the inside track. She would have incumbency for the Dems' nomination anyway. But unpredictable things do happen. And it feels like the Biden Administration might end up being more progressive than Biden or Harris are themselves. They seem set to go a lot further on climate and on social justice than the Obama Admin ever had a chance to because of social events. Coronavirus will probably push them to more socialist solutions than they'd normally be comfortable with. And, of course, there will be the reckoning of deTrumpification. It should be a turbulent 4 years and who knows what the landscape will look like at the end.

Thank you for a post like this.

We must vote Trump out to save Democracy, but we also save Democracy moving forward by removing the team loyalty aspect of long term politics.

The best example is the Civil Rights Bill being passed by LBJ and the parties flipping almost overnight on the issue of race. It seems very very unlikely that the Republicans will transform into anything redeemable, but you never know. We MUST reserve the right to judge every election on the merits of each candidate, and the party that they represent.

I also wouldn't be incredibly shocked if Trump is voted out by a large margin, he leaves in disgrace, and the Republicans are beat in the Senate, that there could be major party re-alignments. Re-alignments on the left aren't out of question either.

But Trump is a danger to Democracy, and is openly discussing contesting a Democratic election to stay in office like a third world dictator. He's very openly not actually trying to win the election, but trying to ATTACK the Democratic process to swing the results in his favor. This should shake everyone to our core but unfortunately 38% of Americans are drunk on the power they THINK they have through their cult leader to openly support this attack on Democracy. We need more folks like yourself to speak out.

Progressives will certainly have more influence under Biden. There are something like 4000 appointments a President must make. You're not going to get 4000 Democrats without a lot of Progressive representation. And to be attractive to Progressives and fire up the youth vote, I think they will announce a pretty progressive aganda. Biden actually already has if you look at his policy statements over the last 3 months.

The difference with Biden: He is from a working-class background and is attractive to MANY Trump independent voters. Those Voters that were turned off by Hillary. This is not 2016. People have seen Trump in office, and many don’t lime it. Hardcore Trump supporters are around 35%. He won Wisconsin by 27,200 votes, Michigan by 11,800, Pennsylvania by 68,000 votes. If the Black vote turned out in those States Hillary would have won. Biden will gain White votes in those States, while having an increased Black vote. There is a reason the Poll numbers have been so bad for Trump. His support outside of the “Trumpers” was soft at best. Remember, More people voted for Hillary. It is a numbers game. The reason Trump doesn’t want mail-in ballots: more people voting=Republican losing. He knows that. There are more Democrats and Independents than Republicans by a LARGE margin. Trump has turned off many Independents. Voter suppression is his ONLY hope.

He is such a con man......... LOL @amaru

The guy is amazing if you really think about it.

A white guy convinces an entire country that he is a black guy...... he then convinces the entire country that he is a credible journalist...... he basically becomes a Sanders operative, does everything to destroy Biden ........ and now has decided that Kamala Harris is the most progressive VP nominee in history (which is false).

Truth be told no one knows what the hell Harris is or isn't on the political spectrum because she doesn't even know..... is she the woman that came from relative wealth....... is she the brilliant prosecutor that was ruthless putting people in prison....... or is she the woman that in the last 4-5 years has supported and funded getting people out on bail and has spoken out against the same **** she did a decade earlier.

I will say this, it isn't really unusual for prosecutors to change their views (I did after putting generations of black men in prison and seeing no improvement), but if that is the case then she really hasn't articulated when or why she had a conversion.

Grifters like King are going to Grift.

She will figure out how to do it......... because she really is a brilliant prosecutor and is extremely bright. She also will not have any moral hang ups doing it either..... she is naked ambition...... just like Biden and Trump and basically all of them since Ford and Carter

Yeah, veeps are steeped in incumbency bias. Alan Lichtman, the presidential keys guy says it's Biden's to lose. Who knows if he ran instead of Hillary...

Vid for people unfamiliar with his keys

I don't think Bernie has naked ambition. He's a genuine ideology based candidate good or bad. That's not what the debate is here. Anyways you probably already know my opinion on the matter.
