Thank you. That’s just what I recall hearing at the time coming from trump’s mouth. I find it both disturbing and disappointing that so many otherwise intelligent people seem so eager to believe the lies constantly being pumped out by trump and those surrounding him, lies and distortions repeated incessantly by the right wing media. I just don’t get it. Simply based on trump’s record during the 2016 campaign, the period between its end and when the fellow was inaugurated, and his record as “president,” one would think that that would enough to condemn the man. Yet they continue to take every opportunity to support him, to repeat blatant lies and distortions, and to belittle those who point them out. As an avid student of history, I am reminded of Germany during the 1930’s, before the invasion of Poland. Every speech, every act of Hitler’s made it obvious just what the man was, yet the German upper class and the middle class, those with the most influence on German politics, kept thinking that they would be able to control “the little man.” They were even instrumental in making Hitler Chancellor when the National Socialists were still a minority party. They fooled themselves, with exceptions here and there, right up until it was too late. Ask @AroundTheWorld. It is a part of Germany’s history. Whether he would agree with the parallels I see between that period of his country’s history and what I see happening in our own is something I don’t know, and I certainly wouldn’t attempt to put words in his mouth. They are parallels I see, however, and I don’t make the comparison lightly.
Playing off of hate to gain influence and power isn't just the domain of 1930's Germany - human history is filled with it, and Trump is certainly playing from the same playbook. This shouldn't be a surprise to be honest, it's only a surprise because people have a misplaced trust in American democracy. The proliferation of media and misinformation should have sounded the alarm long ago.
Hey I'm sure you're a nice enough guy in real life, but ... "Not bothered": by Biden's legacy Iraq War Vote Patriot Act Vote No credence to Anita Hill, won't allow other women accusers to testify re sexual harassment giving us Clarence Thomas Late on gay marriage Led the Dems support for crime bill/ mass incarceration of largely African Americans, Latinos, poor whites Led on the bankruptcy bill which was bad for the middle class and all but prohibits bankruptcy for student debtors Voted to Repeal Glass Seagal contributing to 2008 crash. Supported in the last yr or two giving Dubya a freedom medal -- I guess for Iraq War and Patriot Act. Still against legalizing mar1juana unless he has flipped in the last few mos.
Buckle up Sleepy Joe, if you think Trump caught hell you better hope you’re not elected. Shady dealings with China.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ FoxNews has made many mistakes; some of them involved the hiring of foreigners, Sebastian Gorka Steve Hilton who don't even understand American government, nor its history and culture
Nice to know where you stand on immigration. Btw I took down the video because it wasn’t showing up on my end.
The decision to give Theranos the time infinity gem is by far the biggest blunder on Biden's resume -- we will just have to wait for the end game and how history judges the decision.
Who said anything about humility? I think it is just an illustration that campaigning in 2019 isn't like it has been in the past. It could have been any other major candidate sitting on a plane with a few other people flanking him/her.
I was a big supporter of the crime bill at the time, and still am. Crime rates have also generally gone way down since the mid 90's. Then again I am in favor of things such as mandatory sex offender registries, emphasis on reducing violence against women, and three strike laws in general. The Act certainly has flaws, and they can be addressed and modified, but the Act for the most part did what it set out to do. There could be a similar outcome, anything is possible. However, keep in mind that things have substantially changed based on who is in the White House. The expectations are now far, far, far lower.
Biden with a commanding early lead over Bernie Sanders https://theweek.com/speedreads/8383...er-bernie-sanders-new-democratic-primary-poll
[Premium Post] Did you guys hear the way Sleepy Joe Biden slurred his way through that speech yesterday? Wow. He's really showing his advanced age. And this was his first speech -- before the wear and tear of a long primary campaign... and after that long primary campaign is over, he enters the no-holds-barred Battle Dome against President Trump. GOOD DAY
Man oh man, I have days like that. But then... I ain't running for president either. Imagine a debate of Mr Slurry versus President Slurry-loose-dentures. Turnout for 2020 will be through the floorboards!
