This is where the conspiracy theories come in ... and they are not that far fetched. Top scientist knew what they were getting into and made calculated decisions on how to release information to maintain control.

Most government politicians are not stupid. But they all eventually get caught up in their own narrow minded thinking.

wasn't going to respond to this until I saw your other post. Now I'll respond by saying that Jim Joyner has a PdD, teaches at the Marine Corps University's Command and Staff College, hates Trump probably more than ANY blogger I read, and even HE has a hard time assigning all the blame for the mask fiasco on Trump.

So no, I disagree that it is crap. And I don't believe you mean "with all due respect."

    Touchy!

Dr Fauci's comment about masks that was made very early on has been explained ad nauseam. Perhaps "crap" is a stronger word than I should have used, but I'm sick and tired of people, including Dr Joyner and regardless of how he might feel about trump otherwise, making excuses for trump and his catastrophic handling of the use of masks, and that is what he is doing in the column, from where I sit. It is arguably one of the worst things trump has consistently done since it became obvious to anyone with an understanding of the danger of Covid-19, and how to control it's spread, that wearing a mask by the general population is absolutely critical. Dr Fauci has been relentlessly hammered by trump's supporters taking out of context, over and over again, what he said about masks. I'm not giving trump's grotesque position on masks any excuses. Not because of anything Dr Fauci said at that point in time. Sorry.

As for my other post that you referred to, I haven't delved into your philosophical aspect of "which is more important." I read the OP and responded to it. I honestly don't understand why there has to be a distinction between the two subjects worthy of saying "which is worse." It's apples and oranges, in my opinion, but I'll read the rest of that thread. Perhaps you explain what I'm clearly missing.

@Os Trigonum is free to clarify his beliefs if I make a mistake in my interpretation. I would rather just cut to the chase than spend a lot of back and forth between both you guys.

Os, has stated that he is bothered by the fringes of the Democratic party of which he says he at one time supported.

From the posts that he makes on these boards, he is more bothered by any leftward movement among the Democrats than he is by the radical actions both towards socialism and towards authoritarianism from Donald Trump.

This is a novel virus. A few months ago no one knew anything about it. Of course scientist and politicians try to control information. Science is a slow and often confusing process and with a contagious disease there are policy implications also.

If you’re arguing that there’s some sort of conspiracy because things change it would seem a pretty poor conspiracy. The simplest and most reasonable explanation is that there were a variety of reasons including getting new information for policy decisions to change. That is to be expected with a crisis that we are still learning about as we deal with it.

Yeah it's Trump's fault there was a mask shortage early on and so now it's all his fault 150k Americans are dead.

It is partially Trump's fault there was a mask shortage. That is accurate.

His lack of leadership and inability to lead the people during the pandemic, combined with him disbanding the pandemic task force, making it difficult for Governors to get equipment, not get testing early on, disregarding sound medical advice, has contributed to the death toll.

Had our nation done any of the variations used successfully by scores of other nations, our economy and schools would be opening up now. Trump is responsible for not putting forward the leadership and plans to get America to do it. The sad thing is even now that we've seen what it takes to work, America still isn't doing it. We have people going out of their way to try and disavow what we've seen work in order to keep our nation from doing it.

America was once a leader in the world for these types of situations, now we have nations like Senegal handling it better than us. Yes, our nation's leader is responsible for our response.

True, but it is also true that the experts he relies on were not clear on mask usage early on. For example, Fauci should have been more explicit early on and just said "Wear your masks" instead of waffling on.
And it would have been nice if the nation had a better system in place in the event of a pandemic.
We have had knowledge of them for years and no POTUS has had the wherewithall to create a National stockpile of the requisite materials.
Putting the blame solely on one man is mere scapegoat hunting.

Actually Obama budgeted for exactly creating that kind of stockpile. And as soon as we saw what was happening in other nations we should have started stockpiling right then. Instead the problem was ignored and we were told it was no big deal and soon go away.

Obama should have finished what he started - or at least set wheels in motion for the good work to carry on.

First of all I didn't call you a liar, I said you were lying. I posted this previously that lying or committing a crime doesn't necessarily make you a liar or a criminal. It's the repetitious nature that makes you a liar or a criminal. So stop lying. Second, you claiming I called you a liar and then telling me calling people liars can get you smacked in the mouth is most definitely a threat. Words have meaning. You don't support any truth or facts. You claim repeatedly not to be a Trump supporter but you're his apologist and defender in these threads. So very much like a lot of the Trump supporters here that claim they're not Trump supporters.

You know what is an actual fact of life? Smacking someone in the mouth will get you arrested and charged with battery.

    Semantics.
You used the words lie, lied, lies and lying. What was that about "words have meaning"?
Pretty safe bet you think I am a liar.
I support the Conservative party and facts. You have yet to disprove any of my facts so your accusations listed above are in fact lies in themselves.
    Think about it.
