Moon would KILL IT in Kubiak's system. Too bad it's not 10 years ago because even at 40+, Moon was a better qb than Mcnabb, Sage and Dellhome are now.
Saw on the NFL Network ticker last night that Michael Turner and Julio Jones did not participate in practice Wed or Thurs. Would be nice to see one of those guys out.
Win or lose, I don't particularly care. All I want to see is TJ Yates able to go through his progressions and not be horrible at reading defenses. He must be able to do both if we are to have ANY chance of making noise in the playoffs.
I can accept the next two games as losses - it's Carolina and Indy that are must wins. But a win here would be MASSIVE.
What are the odds, that instead of going conservative Kubiak comes out with a Play action DEEP pass to Andre? To come out of the gates doing exactly what nobody thinks they'll do?
The Texans have never lost to an NFC South team at home. Let's hope that streak continues Sunday. The Falcons haven't played on grass since week 3. They are 0-2 on the real stuff this year. Kubiak named Jake Delhomme the backup for Sunday. Not a surprise since Kubiak was talking him up all week.
Nobody thinks they'll do it so it'll give them the element of surprise, but they still won't do it. Kubes will stay conservative and TJ/Offense will suffer for it.
Kubiak has made his share of boneheaded decisions but his gameplans are usually pretty well designed. It's when he has to alter the gameplan that gets him in trouble. I do expect some early deep targets, especially with Atlanta's #1 corner (Grimes) out. Yates has a pretty good arm too, better than Schaub or Leinart. Kubiak knows that he'll have to take some shots to keep them out of the box for the running game to work.
He's listed with an "O" on the Falcons team page Wasn't trying to start a Kubiak debate with that. It hasn't been a problem this year because we've been wiping the floor with everyone, and that's a credit to everyone including Kubiak. But if you must, the Colts loss last year is a glaring example...he came into that game wanting to throw the ball and didn't take advantage of the run. There has been nothing significant to complain about with Kub this year and let's hope it stays that way.
sometimes deep targets can turn into basically a punt. so we should definitely try in certain situations with low risk.
Nice, always good to have the opposing team's #1 CB out while breaking in a new QB. Let's hope AJ abuses Dumte Robinson.
