As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. If it is not about this series it goes somewhere else. With the series win I'll let them have their name back. 5-23 Clayton Kershaw, LHP (5-3, 3.09) vs. Bud Norris, RHP (2-3, 3.93) 7:05 on FSH 5-24 Chad Billingsley, RHP (2-4, 3.47) vs. J.A. Happ, LHP (3-5, 5.30) 7:05 on FSH 5-25 Ted Lilly, LHP (3-4, 4.71) vs. Aneury Rodriguez, RHP (0-2, 5.72) 1:05 on FSH
Back to being the Astros, darn! And back to stinking it up again. I'd guess they find a way to lose two, win one.
remember when Dodgers-Astros games meant something? I've actually enjoyed the "wild card era" in MLB (especially in '04 and '05  ), but I miss the old NL West. Would *so* rather see the Dodgers, Braves, and Giants 18 times a year than the Pirates, Brewers, and Cubs.
Yes and no. The rivalries were great. Man, I hated the Dodgers and the Padres. I remember no matter how good or bad the Padres were, the Astros could not win in Jack Murphy Stadium. On the other hand, it meant so many late night games. Think of how many road games that wouldn't start until 9 pm. No thanks...
I guess the Some Guys moniker and the poll format for these threads are donezo? Lose tonight and Wednesday, win tomorrow.
Polls are only for 2 game series. The some guys was in reference to a mistake I made in the previous post. I originally posted the title as "[Official]" and forgot both team names. The first reply noted it, and when I realized it I used some guys so that post still seemed to make sense. I kinda liked it, and it will probably return at some point.
Because I used to do them for all series and the W-L combinations got confusing. There aren't enough choices for the combinations for a 4 game series.
that's fair. Did you ever consider simple combinations instead of permutations though? 4-0 3-1 2-2 1-3 0-4 That doesn't account for "WLWL" versus "LLWW", for example, but it's a good enough prediction, no?
Rocket, Berkman, Biggio, and Pettitte aren't coming through that door. Furthermore, neither are concurrent career-year performances from Jason Lane and Morgan Ensberg. This team wasn't playing dead. This team just sucks.
...left out the "lights-out" version of Lidge and the other good bullpen performers we enjoyed that year. Yeah, they're not coming to this party, either.
Lilly owns us so we can already assume that's a loss. Happ has given us three straight quality starts so another would be nice and tonight should be a nice pitching matchup.
I figure the Dodgers are fighting a losing battle this season so I'm basically just rooting for the stats. I want to see Kershaw mow you guys down and Ethier, Kemp and Sands to knock a few out.
True. But it wouldn't shock me if we played better in the second half of the season, even though it makes no sense because almost none of these guys were around for the start of the Slow Startin' Stros tradition. It just always seems like we stink up the works for half a season then crawl back to mediocrity.
Im in agreement with you. Regardless of the team makeup, they struggle out of the hole and hit a noticeably better stride in May or June. Maybe an Astrologer knows the answer?
