First! WWW. We'll give Carlos Zambrano a run for his money. We'll go down swinging! Errr... ummm... never mind...
Come on Astros, win this series. I don't want to see the Cubs in the playoffs. I'm about to start cheering on the Brewers for that same reason.
That's some optimism from Munson there...'still a long way to go and all we need to do is win 2 out of 3 and we'll be ok.' No, ya'll need to win like 9 out of 10 the rest of the way for it to be alright.
Just got back from the game. I cant believe the crowds that still show up. Nice win. I must say, eventhough this season has stunk, the Astros have had some nice walk off wins. I dont think there were many in 2006.
Over 36,000 on a Tuesday night for a team that is floundering. Again...Minute Maid Park changed everything. A far more stable, healthy franchise now. Not to mention playing competitive baseball for 10 years. 25,000 was a good night at the Dome...that's a bad night at MMP. And it's becoming like that virtually everywhere in the country. At last check, MLB stadiums were averaging 31,000/game. That's amazing. It's still affordable.
Facing yet another lefty tonight, which means yet another game with the powerful hitting Mark Loretta (.283 BA, 2HR, .724 OPS) as our first baseman. Freaking Scott and Lamb never get the chance to play. Garner is killing us.
Bruntlett is r****ded. He essentially got picked off twice on the same play. I he had somehow made it to 3rd, he probably would have tried to go home too.
Gar lives and dies (mostly dies) by the Lefty-Righty matchup. It doesn't matter that Lamb and Scott have hit Lefties better this season than the Righties he replaces them with.
What is so perplexing about Lane in CF. So far on the roster he's the most suited to play CF of all the other players. Who would you want in CF instead? You may like Burke in the lineup better than Lane. But Burke can't read the ball nearly as well as Lane, nor does he have the arm. Same with Bruntlett. So far this season when they were in CF, teams took advantage of that.
Now that's something that perplexes me. hehehe I understand the rational behind the lefty/righty matchup... I don't fault him for going with that. But sometimes you just gotta take your shots and go against the grain. Especially when someone is hot.
I still dont know why Burke and Scott are not playing every nite. I want to see the bullpen pitch well again tonite.
