Man I love me some Chicken Littles! I mean they're no Popeye's - with the red beans n rice... but they're still a tasty lil sammich! lol
Let me add the 1980 NLCS loss to the Phillies. I still remember the scene of Jose Cruz crying after the extra inning Game 5 loss. Jose is one of my all time favorite Astros.
You're talking about a Popovich regime. Not sure you'll get that here. More like participation ribbons for everyone.
There's nothing fast about Popovich offenses. Dude loves eating that clock. He's like General Washington and I'm hoping for General Patton.
I don't expect a hot start from this team at all. This team is 50% new and need at least a month to mesh. I won't be panicking until Thanksgiving.
I actually expect a hot start, not to say we will win tonight, though. Reason is because the NBA notoriously favors offense over defense early in the season, relative to later. And basketball in general favors teams with elite PG play at parts of the season when teams are unfamiliar with each other. For instance, this is why I always advocate picking the teams with guards during the one-and-done March Madness tourney, for both producing more upsets and for when the game is otherwise a toss-up. So, early, many teams need time to mesh (settling on rotations, lack of defensive fockass, early). While offenses can stand to build chemistry too, teams with Elite pg play can keep errors down and adjust without much full-practice in early games when many teams are still feeling themselves out.
