I'm of the mindset that these kinds of threads aren't any different than homies in person roasting each other and bustin each others balls lol
Laugh all you want but Rickets blew a golden opportunity to be undefeated preseason co champs last night. And that is not too funny
Oh, I gotta be on this list! I always hope for the best - but expect the worst... How can you be a Houston sports fan for 35+ years and not be a jaded doomsayer? I watched us trade Moses Malone... I saw Phi Slama Jama lose all 3 years... I watched the 'Greatest Team That Never Was' get gutted by drug suspensions... I actually believed Bum n the Oilers were gonna kick the door in! I watched the greatest come from behind playoff loss in NFL history... I watched Barkley come to town to create a dream team... that didnt win... I saw Scottie Pippen arrive and was already counting the chips... that didnt happen... I watched the Yao/TMac dynasty wither away unfilled... I saw the 2005 World Series... and thats just the highlight/lowlight reel... there are tons of more examples where everything looked great - but fell to crap! lol! Granted, we got the B2B - which will forever live in infamy.... even if everybody else wants to put the MJ asterisk next to it - don't care - we won - screw them! lol! but as a Houston fan for this many years you just start trying to figure out how this is gonna blow up in our faces! Lol! ...and I think we should utilize midrange shots if thats what the defense allows... lol
In the immortal words of a CF poster: You have to experience Choke City to appreciate Clutch City. I guess I could add: You have to experience Choke City again and again and again and again to appreciate Clutch City. Those younglings who were born in this millennium don't know what we are talking about.
@swyyyguy is not a chicken little but a little penis so someone deserve your own thread for that **** too
We will beat Golden State on opening night, anyone who says otherwise is a p***y. Let's Go Rockets Nation!!!
im positive brah. i bring the love. you don't, it's why you need to step. @Pen15clubber please see this guy out. SIL
This is way too close to home, kjayp! Spoiler Don't know how long you've been around, but we had Oilers season tickets for the 1960 and 1961 seasons, and they won the first two AFL championships. We saw the 1st championship game at Jeppensen Stadium, when George Blanda accounted for all 24 points for our heroes. He had 3 tosses for TD's, the last an 88 yard strike to Billy Cannon, 3 extra points, and a field goal. What a guy! I was with a chick at the drive-in, who kept pawing at me (a bit of a distraction), while the Coogs and UCLA went at each other in the Game of the Century. Already a UH fan, I followed the San Diego Rockets after they drafted Elvin Hayes, and Elvin won rookie of the year. You could have knocked me over with a feather when the Rockets moved to Houston. I was shocked! Too bad that Elvin was traded after only a year at Houston, but I was hooked. I'll carry on some other time about the Colt 45's, the hole in the ground that was the Dome, and the horde of mosquitoes who attacked us at temporary Colt Stadium. Some great memories.
Thanks for the reminiscence - I always love hearing such stories! Although I am aware of them... Blanda and the 60 and 61 championships were before my time...but I do have a 1960 Oilers Blanda card and a Blanda jersey card on my sports wall though... .I only got to see the Big E on his return engagement to the Rockets... I got to the party in the Moses and Earl era I did however get to see Jim Kelly lead the Houston Gamblers in the Astrodome.... Once again, thanks for the insights! it's always a pleasure hearing from you!
