If you take away the Wiggy huge error... you still had the 2 HBP and a wild pitch from Wandy.

Regardless... the Astros offense continues to struggle.

If you take away the Wigginton error, this inning is over.

Scrubs don't deserve nicknames. You call a guy Miggy or Wiggy out of respect for their talent.

 

I'm not sure where you'd pull Wandy in that inning. Up until Ryan's line-drive single, he was in complete command and had looked fabulous all day.

Demoralizing is the right word but Wigginton is the goat as much as Wandy.

 

what's the most frustrating is that there are 3 innings left, and all of us know there is no chance that we score another run.

Sometimes, you still gotta overcome the errors... the 2nd HBP was the same mistake as the first one... and the wild pitch was Wandy trying to do way too much.

And as much as you despise WIGGY... Bourne has no business being in the major leagues right now. And to see what Lidge is doing, we didn't get anywhere close to max value out of that trade.

I'm just so confused. How can you call the ball right there and make no play for it? That's amateur. Yes, Pence should've backed off earlier, but that's still no excuse.

I fully agree but you can't overlook Wigginton. He takes at least half the blame.

You are right, though. It's like Chacon against the Brewers a few days ago. Yes, the 1st base ump blew a call, but Chacon should have been able to keep it together.

 

Apparently JR Towles was even worse. If Bourne can play catcher, he can stay. Since he can't, he should go.

 

At this point, I'm guessing it's only a few days until Abercrombie gets an extended look in CF. He's got speed and plays good defense, and had good power numbers in RR. Sure, he might be the second coming of Charlton Jimerson -- but there's nothing to lose by taking Bourn out right now. Looks totally lost.

 

Bourne should have a standing order to bunt at all AB's till otherwise specified.... especially when there are 2 men on and NOBODY out like there was earlier in the game.
