not until he puts on more weight and plays like he played yesterday on a night in and night out basis.... and oh yeah, learns how to rebound like a true big.
Disagree. Capela is a nice luxury, but he is a whetstone to the double edged blade that is our HOF backcourt. Useful in combination, but just a rock by itself. I am not 100%, but I believe there are many other guys out there that could see a significant jump in production with Paul / Harden setting them up.
Sometimes I feel this way too, but then I see what happens when they let Tarik Black play. I'm sure there are other players out there well suited to playing with James and Chris (I sure would love to bring in Nerlens Noel as a back up next season and see how he fits), but not everybody can keep pace with them or has the hands/coordination to even receive their passes.
It’s crazy how much of an impact he has yet can you win a ring with him? He gets outplayed a lot down low at times
He has a ways to go. Liked him driving towards the basket. Felt he got lucky on those drives but if its something he can do consistently I'll believe he can create a shot by himself. Right now his production seems predicated on Paul and Harden. But he is perfect for this team tho. Willing screener and roller and does not demand the ball.
BOLD PREDICTION No Matter where they play . . . . Capela will be better than DJ next year I won't call Capela Hakeem . .. but I see him WORKING ON HIS GAME LIKE HAKEEM USE TOO Capela has improved every season .. . . . I think he will end up a career 20 pt guy shooting 70% from the line His Drives are awkward but effective and THEY WILL IMPROVE In the next few years he may add a jumper but honestly .. . If Capela can take fools from the elbow and catch and shoot in the lane like he does. . . he could easily be a 20 pt per game guy He will add muscle and be a better rebounder Rocket River BOOK IT!!
The only part where I would hesitate to call him part of a big 3 is that Capela still is reliant on either Paul or Harden for the majority of his scoring. He isnt the playmaker the way other elite bigs (Gasol, Whiteside, AD, Cousins, Embiid) are and his offensive game is the least polished too out of that group. His abilities are critical for this offense as it gives it a wrinkle that isnt there with Black or Nene. His defense has been much better this season but his defense on the perimeter on switches is more impressive to me than his interior defense. He is going to improve but i cant see him being part of a big three. He isnt the defensive presence the way DeAndre Jordan/Drummond are to compensate for the smaller offensive skillset.
DJ is crap on the parameter. DJ is a beast down low though Taking the ball out of Harden or CP3's hands to put it into any of those elite bigs' hands would . . . well . . . it would not be what I would want. . . . AD is about the only one I would feel comfortable with Rocket River
If Capela wants to advance to the next level, he needs some post moves and MUCH BETTER ball security. Right now he has his Eurostep and the bounce hesitation. Next, he needs to develop a baseline hook (better yet, turnaround). Hell, I would be happy if his normal hook was more effective.
Best way for Capela to improve even quicker is to having him compete with another player who threatens to take starting spot away - that's not Nene, certainly not Black or Qi. Competition is good, trade for Nerlens Noel.
