Very awesome season imo. A few of those games could’ve gone our way. Decimated by injuries. A Few stinkers. And yet here we are talking potential playoffs. Just blows my mind considering the last few years. still locked in, but man i cannot wait to see what moves they make in FA and these guys gelling together. Merry Christmas, fellas.
Y'all do realize the Texans win 2 games they are in the playoffs? The division can be won with an additional Jags loss.
I'm not totally sure of that with 8 teams having a 8-7 record at the moment including 5 AFC teams competing for 2 WC slots. While we win HTH with most, it's based on conference record if there are more than 2. It's really squirrelly with their elimination process with some eliminated through division record and some conference records even when there are more than two teams..
Texans finish 10-7. That means they beat the colts. Texans have head to head wins over the Steelers and Bengals. That eliminates them. The Texans will have a better division record than the Colts and that will give the Texans the final Wild Card. If the Jags lose 1 of their last 2, then the Texans would win the division. If the Texans go 1-1, there is a whole bunch of tie-breaks that will come into play.
This is what the NFL says about multiple team ties for wild card. As of today there are 4 AFC teams (2 AFCN and 2 AFCS) vying for one wild card spot. The Browns and Bills have better records so they get the first two wild card spots. The AFCS winner is removed from the equation so no tie breaker is need with them in the equation. In this case it’s the Jags. So that leaves Texans, Colts, Bengals and Steelers as of today. If we win out (10-7) the Colts will have a worse record (9-8) than us since we will have beaten them. This puts us in a tie with only Bengals and Pitt, provided they also win out (10-7) If I’m reading this right the division tie breaker would kick in first for the Bengals and Pitt in which case Pitt is gone. That would make it a two team tie with us and Bengals. Then our head to head win would kick in and put us in the final playoff spot. Again it’s super important that we win out. That is a must.
Watched the game at the relatives during Xmas Eve festivities.......man, that was ugly. Case looked horrible, the D was swiss cheese and cooper was the knife. 3 starters hurt on D and J Ward seems to get hurt every other game. No one feels sorry for another team when starters go down but dam, it seems like we always have so many key positions playing with a back up`s back up...............and dont get me started about Petrie On the bright side, I had no real expectations for this year, was hoping for 8 wins and that was going to be a great turnaround from last year, we did it, everything else to me is icing on the cake. So many games this year we could have won.........looking to finish strong and if we get a playoff game great and if not it will still be a great season.............the bar has been pretty low the past few years and were trending in the right direction.
It would be nice to have a better backup next year, to replace Mills or Keenum as our #2 in case CJ gets injured again. The problem is that our salary cap will be stretched already. Maybe we can get a good young QB in the later rounds. who could end up earning that #2 spot.
Which they will be mainly using up on signing the guys we don't want to walk. I doubt they would use any leftover money for another backup with our horrible pass rush.

Deb I think we'll have some salary cap flexibility next year... https://overthecap.com/calculator/houston-texans I love Case, and think he's been a key ingredient to CJ's early success with his mentoring and leadership example. However, we're competitive this year and should be even better next year and with QB injuries we need a #2 that can step in an win games.
