well, I like that the coaching staff have been sticking to what works, which has been the running game. I did think the coaching staff wanted to get schaub a passing td when they threw the ball on cosecutive plays. It was the first time in 16 games that the kid matty did not throw a td pass.
I agree about the running game, and I know the reasoning behind working the clock. I know we're missing AJ, but the first half of yesterday's game was the first time I really saw them use both the passing and running game and where it was effective. Granted, I do realize who they were playing. I hope that they continue to work on putting up points on teams. I know the defense has been really good this year, but they're in no position just yet to allow 3 and out. If they plan on doing some damage this year in the playoffs, their offense has to be one of the best.
Add AJ back to give the playaction/boot a deep threat...and it's all over. Hand it to our O-Line, they've been incredible this season.
Last year, I would have LOL'd at this. But now...I'm running down the list of teams in my head, and the only name that gives me pause is Green Bay. Other than that, I think maybe you're right.
We had them beat except we lost the game??? Complete nonsense, you are typing Brees had his way in the fourth quarter against the Texans defense, the best ... NFL ... defense ... ever.
I think our defense is improving. I think having Arian makes our defense better (time of possession/ball control) and certainly helps in the red zone. I'd love to play the Saints again...WITH Arian.
I wouldn't. Not until the Superbowl at least. If I had my way, We'd play the Colts 7 more times. Screw strength of schedule, I want wins.
i understand that. i'm just saying that i think the game would be different now. i think the defense has improved since that game...and having arian out was HUGE. bigger than i even thought at the time.
A win over Tampa this week and I will officially become a former pessimistic Texans fan...but think about our 3 losses: NO -- No Foster Oak, Bal -- No Andre I have no doubt that we beat NO with Foster, and likely beat Oakland with Andre. Injuries are a part of the game but how high would this city be if we were 8-1 right now.
Did anybody notice that Kareem Jackson had a pretty decent game on Sunday. I don't remember saying "Dammit, Kareem" once. I do recall McCoy overthrowing a fairly open receiver in the endzone and that KJ had the coverage but that was the only close to negative thing I remember? Not that the Brown don't suck passing the ball, but hopefully this is a sign that Vance Joseph is doing his job well and KJ is finally showing signs of improving.
i'm really worried about the texans offense consistency. I mean, only scoring 6 points in the second half. The doo doo browns obviously caught onto the texans and kubiak couldnt make the adjustments. Spoiler
Just an all around great game by the Texans yesterday. Sure is nice watching the game knowing the Texans will win instead of hoping they will. Next up is the Bucs. Gerald McCoy tore a bicep yesterday and is out. With him out the Texans should provide a healthy dose of Foster and Tate.
Think about our 6 wins: 24 quarters, just 2.5 with AF and AJ both on the field. I personally don't think Tampa Bay is any good, though the best team we've played in a while. I sit Andre through the bye. Losing to the Bucs is no big deal and a win, while nice to keep the momentum going, etc., isn't essential.
To the "5-7 Monkey" on the Texans' back: GIT UR ASS OFF. 5-7 Monkey to Texans: As long as Kubes is here, I'll patiently be waiting in the shadows, biding my time... This isn't over! Muh ha ha ha ha!! /Cushing rips head off 5-7 Monkey and eats it with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti.
Big blow for them, especially since they already are having a tough time stopping teams: 399 yards allowed per game (#29) 267 passing allowed (#27) 132 rushing allowed (#26) 24.5 points allowed (#23-tie)
NO MORE 5-7!!!! woooohooooooooooo!!!!!!! Well, there was that one end zone play that the commentators were saying he "did an amazing job". I disagreed: McCoy underthrew the ball, and it the receiver was unable to reach over KJ (whose back, of course, was still obliviously turned) to nab it. Had McCoy thrown that pass better, it would have been yet another "TURN THE **** AROUND DAMMIT!!!! touchdown on KJ's record.
