Much more tense and nerve-racking than it needed to be, but a win is a win. Don't let this distract you from the fact that another top-tier reliever would be ideal this deadline.
How would this distract anyone from that? It just re-emphasizes it. They have 3 reliable relievers, one of those is Will Harris.
Waaaaaaayyy too many strikes right down the middle of the plate tonight by our pitchers. And major league players did what major players should do with those pitches. Justin won't do that tomorrow. Except his standard one time per game. The modern art strikezone tonight certainly didn't help with trying to locate pitches.
Whew, glad that one is over. Astros and Dodgers are tied for the best record in baseball (45-22). Could be a preview of you know what.
If we're assigning single representative awards to Astros this season so far, I'm looking at Chirinos as MVP. Brantley's your Silver Slugger for the team. Marisnick's your Gold Glove. And whatever you want to call it, Most Pleasantly Surprising Player has got to go to Will Harris. and it's a great thing to see.
"Well I have to confess a little bit of ignorance, so maybe you could help me out, but im sure Aj... Im not sure how hes run the bullpen this year, but generally speaking, you dont expect to use your high leverage relievers in a 10-4 ballgame. I feel like you oughta get through it without exposing some of these guys youre going to be counting on to pitch those really tight games but ya know, with the way bullpens operate now, maybe theyre using a different philosophy with guys are getting to pitch more and youre kinda using everybody in different spots so..." - VERBATIM Theres your fox news level interpretation. Im sorry I dont follow that channel, but good for you if you do.
First thing i thought of when he gave up that bomb. He’s been incredibly lucky in previous appearances, not good. It was on full display tonight. He doesn’t have a place on this squad come postseason.
Rondon shouldve been pulled earlier and with only one more out Harris coudlve gotten that. Let Devo pitch the next inning and you still have Pressly when it was really high leverage. Thats what we paid him for. Granted it was one batter and Pressly will still be available tomorrow but I didnt like that move at all.
Honestly, I lost a lot of respect for Berkman. I mentioned this several years ago on a post and I know a few posters went at me on my feelings towards him. I just felt he took advantage of the Astros. There were times he wasn't even in shape while he was with the Astros and he openly admitted it when he signed with the Cardinals. If he had taken better care of himself, his career with the Astros would have been better. I know the Cardinals wouldn't have signed him if he came in out of shape but just ticked me off.
After watching the 9th you had confidence that Devenski could have gotten out of the bases loaded jam?
