The last time the Texans thought they had a possible future starting QB following a stellar unexpected performance from the backup was 2014 after Mallett looked impressive against the Browns. The next game was a home game against the Bengals where they were curb stomped. Mallett also apparently suffered a torn pec injury prior to the game that he told nobody about. Hopefully savage doesn't allow history to repeat itself.
The Bengals have one of the best secondaries in the league, so it might be tough for him to get big chunks of yards.
Hop is out to show that Osweiler was the reason for his "down year" I'm willing to bet he sits savage down and says " get me the effing ball, I will go off" and then does that.
I'm hosting at my house and I will be trying to get everyone out before the game starts. Because if they're still there, they'll never leave...
Tell them you're going out for Sarsaparilla but it took 3 hours because you had to find a store open.
My God, these press conferences are mind-numbingly stupid. "A good thrower of the football"......really, George?
I get the feeling that they don't want to be too complimentary of Savage because it draws attention to the fact they kept him on the bench for 15 weeks. They don't want to say "Yeah, this guy is pretty good. We just decided to not play him while the starter was sucking every week." So any praise has been tempered a lot. And that's how you get quotes like that.
Or, they are scared to praise him because if he sucks then that furthers the narrative that they are a terrible judge of talent.
Maybe he is practicing lines for a play with an Old English script, in case his football career gets cut short for his less than brilliant play calling.
Just take care of the ball and run as much as possible. Let the defense take care you and give them a breather here and there. Texans 24 Bengals 16
