I'd sure like to know why they have such consistent problems giving JV run support. It's been a problem for two seasons now. I kind of wish he'd just lose it one day and go yell at the whole team to go score some damn runs.
I don't think he dived, though. He veered out of the way of the tag and lost his balance doing it, hit the bag, and then hit the dive. His "dive" was after the point where the play would've been decided. I didn't see enough evidence to overturn the safe call either.
You're right. I didn't follow them as closely back during those years because of school, but I do remember now that they couldn't score worth crap for him either. Pissed me off then. And even back then, I knew it was a team mental thing, and it drove me crazy. Some things about the Astros transcend generations.
Oh, that's the play speaking? Haven't been watching entire game so assumed another "sliding accelerates me" theory occured. My point is still valid on dives in general though. Pretty Ricky what they called them.
You're exactly right. This wasn't a dive to beat a throw to the bag. The throw was errant pulling the first baseman of the bag towards George who in a split second contorted to miss the tag...and I think he actually did. They called him safe initially, and then overturned it with specious evidence, I'd say.
Altuve, you ****ing idiot. Terrible at-bat when Reddick was at third a couple innings ago. Now, more baserunning trash. Atrocious.
