I would give him a B- on his debut. Would have been better had he controlled his pitches better. The two first innings gassed him out.
There is not one time this season (that I remember) where Thatcher has come in and not allowed the runner already on base to score. His ERA is very deceiving. Prove me wrong, Joe.
yeah nice start for the young guy. more walks and pitches than you want through 4.2 but we'll take it
This team just isn't built on "great at bats" and high average guys It's built on big power and big speed It won't be what some want it to be, but so far it's certainly been a winning combo
agreed. I give him a B+. Can't ask for much more than 5 innings (almost) and only 1 run given up. Dude did great despite the high pitch count
I'd give Mccullers an A. Almost 5 innings of 1 run ball. Had a streak of 9 retired As in a row.His stuff looks major league caliber. What more could you expect out of a rookie making his major league debut.
McCullers' changeup looked better than anticipated. Has some flash of a plus pitch if he keeps developing a feel for it.
I wonder how often Springer swings and misses in BP. I swear he almost never swings at a bad ball, he just misses fastballs right down the middle, it's really weird.
They need to put up Springer's OBP rather than his average on the Root sports telecast. The amount of walks he draws is impressive. Good plate discipline, just needs to work on getting barrel on ball.
