Can't win em all, but ugh. Six in a row. Just sucks. Astros lost, Yankees won. Rooting for the Blue Jays to come back against Boston, Tampa against Oakland, and the White Sox against the Rangers to at least somewhat salvage my day.
Tough pitcher for Alvarez (or any left handed batter) to face. He will only grow from this experience.
I may need a little break from baseball. It's just not very satisfying lately. Can't Get No Satisfaction
They will break out of it... it’s a slump, they happen. Lineup too good to be so bad. It will turn around. Still need a solid starter at trade deadline though.
You have to upgrade 1st base. The weakest on this team. I do not want a situation where you’re hoping White won’t hit into ending double play. I don’t want to see White in the lineup period.
Pray they don’t get anymore injuries. The last two seasons has been brutal when it comes to injuries on this team.
True, but Gurriel is not that great either. Very low OBP and SLG for a 1B, a position known for strong offense, especially considering what kind of lineups we'll face. I'm sorry, he's a great clubhouse guy and he's been great in the past, but his hooked swing that misses the meat of the strikezone (remember that graphic shown during on of the Cincy games) and next to no pop is definitely worth upgrading. He's already past his peak.
So do you expect the Astros to cut Yuli and eat the 12-14 million they still owe him? In all likelihood, he's going to be 1 of the 25 come October.
I didn't have a problem with Gurriel on this team when he was hitting for high average both for the season and with RISP. He's harder to defend with his average dropping and when he's not coming up with hits in clutch at bats. His lack of production though becomes much more magnified with all of the injuries.
Deserved to lose when you leave 12 men on base. The Stros haven't won in a week, I guess that is how to feel like being a Marlins fan. Still in June, July, August and Sept. Better to slump in the middle of the season than latter when recovery will be too late. Plenty of Stros victory.
I’m not really convinced in the more modern game that we need to be too bothered about 1B being a powerhouse offensive position, when we have others who compensate by getting great production from traditionally less offensive spots. Come the day we get everyone healthy, Yuli is a number 8 or 9 hitter. Sure, his numbers are down but if he can put up .260 avg/.750 ops from the 8 hole, I take that. You can’t have 1-9 hitting .300/.900. Springer Bregman Altuve Brantley Alvarez Correa Reddick Gurriel Chirinos That’s still pretty ridiculous.
