Their only chance was to make it a 1-game bullpen game, and they tried. Treinen shat the bed for about the first time all season.
The truth is that Theo has unintentionally really limited the Cubs with poor free agent signings for big money and drained their system with very bad trades. He and Hoyer rebuilt the Cubs system and did well in free agency before they broke out, but since then it hasn’t been pretty at all.
This is why I never get cocky. Your best hitter or pitcher can have their worst moment when you least want it.
Most stolen bases in MLB, if I recall corrrectly. Wow, Boston and Cleveland did (along with Tampa) steal the most bases this year, at an ~80% success rate. Machete gonna play. For everyone b!tching about Pettis, we had the 9th most outs-on-bases in MLB, tied with Boston and one behind Cleveland and Milwaukee. That's a factor of having so many people on base (4th in OBP behind Boston, Tampa and Cleveland)
Yup and even if McCann starts some, we will likely see Maldonado brought into the game. We are likely playing Cleveland and Boston (if we win) and that is likely the reason Luhnow got Maldonado over guys like Ramos.
Yep. Even if McCann starts one or two games, expect Maldo to enter as a late-game D-sub. Luhnow clearly had Cleveland's (and Boston's) run game in mind. I never said he'd sit out of McCann starts entirely.
Astros win this in 4. Bauer would have shut them down if healthy but the right players are rounding into form and a bad game from one of the big 3 pitchers won't kill them like it did before Sep.
anyone else betting on the game? Astros to win the series at -160 looks really juicy. Laying two dimes on it. Anyone else betting? -131 for game 1 isnt bad value either
My roster predictions: Position players-Yuli, Tyler, Altuve, Bregman, Correa, McCann, Maldonado, Marwin, Kemp, Springer, Straw, Reddick, Jake and Gattis. Pitchers- JV, Cole, DK, Morton, Lance, Pressley, James, McHugh, Sipp, Osuna and Rondon
I wanted to root for the A's players since they're the under dog, but as soon as I reminded myself that the same idiots cheering the A's on are the same bandwagoners rooting for the Warriors, go Yankees. Anyway, who do yall want in the ALCS: Boston or New York?
I'd rather play the lesser team of the two. i think Boston is built this season to give Hou the most trouble, so go NY. It would be another great series between either
With the Yankees winning, that pretty much guarantees all our games will be early starts. I have Uverse, TBS comes in nicely on their app for watching at the office.
-160 sounds about where it should be. I don’t like anything worse than -150 normally so I wouldn’t personally take that, but -131 for a home game 1 with Verlander is good value.
Perhaps they are not as good as they could have been, but they still managed the 2nd best DIFF in the NL.
