Not a big fan of the Mo, huh? Yeah, really it’s just one game. Question is, will the Yankees feel pressure being a game away from elimination? Doubtful. Sox were firing on all cylinders today. Today. Could be completely different tomorrow. Baseball teaches us daily that anything can and will happen. One of the biggest rivalries in all of sports, the Yankees most likely won’t go quietly.
As they say in baseball....momentum is only as good as the next day's starting pitcher. Also, a royal butt kicking does not count as momentum.
Exactly. A little bit of luck. Still had to draft Bregman but, there was a little luck getting there. Luck and solid medicals.
Have no idea why I’m sharing this, but... I fell in love with the Astros in 1980 as an 8 year old kid living in Indiana. My dad was an absolutely huge Pete Rose fan and wanted the Phillies to win that playoff series, but I just didn’t care. I saw something in that team, fell in love and they’ve been mine ever since. Little did I know I’d move to Houston a year later and get a chance to watch them what seemed to be damn near every day. My fandom has never wavered, ever. Any Astros fans that have been there for any real length of time knows it’s had its moments, but there was a lot of tough sledding too. The entire journey that I’ve personally been on has been more than worth it to get to this point. You ride and die no matter what (insert Bud Adams/Bob McNair/John McMullen jokes) your team is doing. I say all that to say this...Win or lose this years World Series, we are watching absolute greatness with this team and I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate what we’ve witnessed the last few years. Said it last year, but my now 6 and 8 year old boys have no idea yet what they’re witnessing, one day I think they will. Do some of you? I’m pretty sure I know the people here that do get it. There are people here that have been fans much longer than I. I read ALL of you, have for years. I can get a little sentimental from time to time and maybe this is one of those moments, but how can you not with something you’re so passionate about? Damn this feels good. Alright, feels are ovah.
The synchronicity and full flow of champagne in the locker room was impressive. Astros are getting good at this.
Plenty of personal stories have been shared here, especially after we won it all last year. You're certainly in the right place.
Been seeing a lot of people calling different players the "heart and soul" of the team. Here's how I break it down: Springer - the heart Altuve - the soul Correa - the muscle Bregman - the big swangin' dick
Id say that Lance has the big swangin dick but Alex has the big ol balls(shout out to @mikol13 for last years reference(i think it was mikol13)) that he has to have a wheel barrow for. Verlander for his brain and sage wisdom.
(Uhm ... Am I allowed to say this? Never mind) Astros Reddit has a post with the link. It was even more hilarious than the one for the division clinch Sparky is legend.
That's really cool. I think it would be hard for me at 8yrs old to pick a team against my dad with no other ties. I've been in the process of brainwashing my 8yr girl to understand Altuve is awesome and that the number next to the "H" in the boxscore should always be higher than the other numbers for the teams below.
Love this team I know Sox went off but pitching to our line up has to be unsettling - we get it done in so many ways Also pretty sure Bregman is a robot I re-watch Springers HR swings over and over Thing of beauty
