I have now hired an editor to parse my random copy-and-paste posts more closely than in the past. Thank you, Daniel Okrent.
Alex Bregman doing his best to be this generations Derek Jeter but with better sound bites. Verlander 14 months ago did everything he could to end up in a Cubs jersey... and didn’t okay the Astros deal until it became clear the Cubs didn’t have the prospects or desire to make it happen..... think the Astros and Verlander are happy with how it turned out?? They both get a title and a shot at another, Verlander gets a baby and wife and revitalization of his career and now likely a Hall of Fame plaque.... talk about a perfect ending! On a side note, what did the Cubs get instead? They got Quintana and his 4+ era and lost the best position player prospect in the game.... OUCH!
I was there when the Rockets won their back to back. I lived it, breathed it before they were anybody, hell before I had cable I was glued to the radio. After the Rockets won though everything changed for me, it seemed they sold out and I just fell out of touch with them and the NBA. The same goes for the NFL, the Oilers were everything then they left and the Texans had me for a little while but now the League is just not watchable anymore and too political. The Astros have not disappointed and I am enjoying every minute.
Incredible. You can be the greatest player or organization doing all the right things, but you still need a little luck and/or the stars to align differently than you wanted.
