There's a ton of value if Peacock can be used to salvage either a clunker of a start or a short outing in the playoffs. Given our offense, as long as it's close it's not out of reach. We seem to have moved away from using Devo in that role, so it's nice to have Peacock and Martes around to pick up the slack (and Musgrove, possibly).
So, reading player post-game comments for the last game, Reddick said he purposely did an over-the-top bat flip on his 3 run dinger as some kind of response to something one of their players did earlier in the game when that player hit a 3 run HR? Can anyone elaborate on just what the Detroit player did when he hit is 3 run shot that deserved answering? Was it just he did his own over-the-top bat flip? Are bat flips more accepted now after the Bautista-Texas fiasco/ridiculousness? I mean...we weren't getting ready to brawl or anything so I assume what Reddick is referring to is all in good jest. I know our team has talked about celebrating respectfully and all that given they are almost always laying down the hurt on the other team and have lots to celebrate about at this point.
Detroit hit a 3 run bomb earlier in the game. The hitter admired it a bit too much that pissed off the Stros.
I wished that instead of bat flip someone would take the bat with him around the bases like pedro cerrano on a home run. It'd make the top headline on mlb.com.
I found it a bit strange to see their ball boy run up the 3rd base line to high five the player coming in. I took it as a sign of disrespect to our ball boy because he doesn't do that. It's all about interpreting the signs.
I'd trust Peacock as much as anyone else in the rotation come playoff time. I know he was the logical guy to go to the pen and be successful but if someone else isn't acquired, he should be the 3rd starter in the playoffs.
I like this lineup. I know I chose the worst game last night to criticize Reddick's placement in the lineup. He did phenomenally. I still like him up in front of Altuve, because Reddick then can use that good eye (and hustle, which we just saw) of his to focus on getting on base. We'll see how things go today.
Would be shocking based off his recent injury. Not normal to have an mph increase after rotator cuff issues. Amazing if true.
McHugh looks great. The Tigers just showed a lot of patience in the 5th and took advantage of these tight strike zones the umps are calling. I'd like to see our guys work the count more, show some more patience. Guriel isn't being as selective as he's capable of being. At least the wear the pitcher down.
