eh, I'm ok with the timing. If there's one thing McHugh has done consistently the last 3 years, it's work out of trouble and settle down after early issues. Clearly not today thus far
I think it was obvious McHugh didn't have it. Gotta have better recognition of what's going on in the current game instead of going on past performances.
Not at all... But I'm already of the mindset that McHugh is what he is. A good, but not great, pitcher that has some issues at starts of games with grip, control, and trust in pitches. Some lesser lineups would probably have done less though. The Tigers have more than one professional hitter.
100%, I thought he should have been pulled in the 1st when it was a 2-2 game. but I guess letting him go out there and give up 4 more was the better call. I knew he didn't have it tonight, how do professionals not know? They're god damned paid to know these things.
painful to watch any pitcher get hit like that even worse when it's one of ours. looks like lincecum out there.
I don't know for sure without a side-by-side, but I'm guessing if you went back over his previous starts, it would be "obvious he didn't have it" in the ones where he settled down, as well. Perhaps not... maybe you're right.
I agree that it was obvious earlier that McHugh is sucking, but it's not like they want to kill the whole bullpen in game 1 of the series. I mean, this is just a terrible position to be put in by your pitcher.
Eh, they have two long men so they won't be killing the bullpen. It is pretty much impossible to kill this 'pen in blowouts.
have seen plenty of games where they come back to tie it before half the game is over. Hoping we get that reset by scoring some runs in the next few
Not only that, but no off day for almost 3 weeks. You gotta consider those things before you pull pitchers after 1 inning in a 2-2 game.
