8 hits and a walk through 4 innings, and only 1 run (from a solo homer). Schafer having the kind of games any Braves fan can tell you to expect night in and night out.
What's the story on him? I know he came over in the Bourn trade. I looked at his major and minor league stats and can't really see why he's in the majors. He hit .201 in the minors in 2010 (career .260).
He came out of nowhere to have a monster 2007, and then got suspended 50 games for alleged HGH use. Was named the opening day starter for the Braves in 2009, and hurt his wrist, and has done nothing since.

Schafer was the only starter without a hit. 0-4 with a k and gidp. The team had 15 hits. Pretty interesting line for ARod: 2.1IP 0H 2ER. You have to hate when you get pulled, and the guy comes in and lets both of your runners score. I don't really mind the platooning of JMike and Bogusevic. What I don't want to see is Schafer leading off. Martinez is the only one of our 6 OF that we are looking at as an everyday player. And please don't let Schafer hit in the leadoff spot until he has proven he can hit something beyond AA. Edit: I guess they see Schafer as an everyday player as well.
So if Wandy is indeed picked up by the Rockies, this brings up the possibility he'll pitch against us in the last game of the series. Interesting. Moe
