I think Paulino back to the minors (he's shown he's a much better starter than reliever), Backe to the pen, Smith released, again.
So far so good, in the reverse for us. Random question: Berkman said yesterday Uvalde threw a 90 mph changeup. What???
Up to 22 hits and 15 runs as of now. All this with 5 doubles and 16 singles. Berkman, Lee, Tejada and Pence are a combined 13-18 with 7 rbi. Blum has 5 rbi with 2 doubles. Quintero got his first 2 hits of the season. Mike Hampton has 2 hits, giving him a 4 game hit streak and raising his average to .357...and we're still in the 7th. They now need to get Jason Smith in the game so he can get a hit.
Good Lord Geary. It's freaking garbage time. Throw the ball as hard as you can and get these guys out. There's no time to be nitpicking and sending balls all over the field.
Holy crap, I was thinking "Watch Geary almost **** the game up for us." 'Stros never seem to prove me wrong. Except I would always bet against them getting 24 hits, and I'd lose once.
I know they don't want to give up on him, but something will have to be done because he just doesn't have it and has shown no signs of getting it back. Meanwhile, we've got a guy in Round Rock, Chad Paronto, who has 8 saves and a 0.69 ERA still waiting for his turn.
he had his turn many times over last season. i guess i'd rather see him in over geary, but we need an upgrade over both. maybe ortiz will be good out of the pen. good to see the lineup coming around in a big way. hopefully puma has turned it around. let's keep it going tomorrow wandy. i'd like to be 3 under at worst following the cubs series.
Geary has given up more runs than he did all of last year. At least Wright didn't give up a run. These guys need to start pitching better, or they'll be gone before the end of the summer.
Throwing the hammer down...was at a Rangers game ($1 hot dog night) and saw kept up with the game there...at 5 and my stomach hurts...
That game last night was a slugfest. 15-11! Let's see how Wandy and company come out this afternoon in the finale of the series.
rangers are playing some good baseball....we'll see if it holds up as the temperature gets hotter in arlington.
Good news! "The Rockies made it appear closer than it was when Chris Iannetta hit a grand slam off Geoff Geary in Colorado's five-run ninth, cutting the Astros' lead to 15-11. Cecil Cooper says Geary has biceps tendinitis, and the embattled reliever appears headed for the disabled list." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6423325.html
