The team is playing well and having a great time probably because they have more talent on the roster then they have had in years. Hinch at times seems like a nice guy to play for but most players' coaches stand up for their team more than Hinch does. Oh well. Its just very frustrating trait of Hinch. Makes him look like kind of a wimp.
At least we kept Carter on the roster That's what's important right Make sure we take care of ole Chris
No, I think every team and every set of players have their own personality. I think fans thinking they have any idea how the clubhouse is and what these players react to is nonsense. The team is playing great and they seem to have great chemistry from the outside. That's all we can evaluate as fans - trying to evaluate their psychology from afar and deciding whether they have a chance is the playoff is pure hubris. Makes sense - I didn't realize there was a 10 day requirement.
The pitching depth is real thin if it's Straily being called upon. Hopefully he pitches like he wants to stick this time.
Unless there's an injury; so if they put McCullers on the DL they could bring VV back up before his 10 days. I'm sure there's a reason they didn't go that route, regardless of who was being called up.
While repeatedly yelling out whatever hackneyed phrase his "Wheel of Motivational Awesomeness" landed on that inning.
Alls I know is if Garner was the manager that ump would be doctoring his face from some serious mustache burn.
While I was never completely crazy about the 8 man bullpen most of the year When the moves were made Friday, I really didn't like the fact that we were going from 8 to 6 in the pen. You have a young manager in Hinch, who has done a great job, but is young when it comes to managers. He is used to having 8 men down there, and instead of cutting back to 7 you cut back two guys to 6. While it certainly wasn't predictable that McCullers would have this kind of outing, it immediately struck me as putting the team in a position where we could have a problem. Then immediately we have Neshek throwing three days in a row for the first time, Gregerson throwing 3 days in a row...then yesterday they both throw 4 days in 5...and then we have to use Fiers when he wasn't prepared and don't have a starter tomorrow Now I know that crazy stuff can happen in baseball, I do get that Some one PLEASE convince me it was the right decision to keep Chris Carter on the team though. Please, someone help me make sense of that. Thanks
As great as the Stros are at home, they been just as great oppositely on the road (since April). Not sure why... baseball doesn't have the same obstacles as basketball and football.
Mccullers is clearly being sent down to conserve innings. Would you guys rather keep rather keep a useless pitcher on the roster because sending him down is mean? He'll go down there and chill for a week or 2 and then come back up. We knew something of this nature is coming.
Wasn't the alternative DFA'ing him? Losing him for nothing? Now they're able to bring up Straily without losing a player. So that's the logic...seems better in principle than losing a 30 HR guy for nothing But I really wish they could have traded him for some longshot prospect....
