Not sure I agree with the late-game defensive subbing of Marwin over Reed at 1st. Reed hasn't struggled defensively to my knowledge. Marwin is a fine fielder, but is he all that much better than Reed defensively? Didn't he have poor footwork on the last play of last nights game (also a defensive switch)?
Reed has flubbed a couple of grounders in the last week, and he nearly got his feet tied up today (imo). Not as sure-handed. You're right that Marwin had an issue recently, but I think that was an aberration for him. I think the substitution makes sense given that it's a close game that's also low-scoring. You assume that not many runs will be scored on either side the rest of the way, so just protect. (At the other end, if it was 10-8...perhaps you leave Reed in to try and build on that lead.)
I was thinking Saturday evening that Sunday's game could tell us where this team is headed for the last 6 weeks of the season, if we took 3/4 from Balt it might be a turnaround to the losing. I'm liking what we've seen the last few days. Only 3.5 GB from the WC starting today.
3 one handed stabs on flies that should've been routine. there's old willy in his comfort zone in the 8th
jesus Ashby has been off on everything today Bregs!! Put some pop into the first one to RF..demolished this one edit: also LOVED seeing an easy 8th out of Harris. Feels like it's been forever
I was eating spicy cajun bbq shrimp and was not paying close attention. Isn't a 1-handed stab a routine play for a 1B?
Bregman BLAST..... And Ashby gets exposed (again) for having no clue about what a fly ball does in a baseball game (got caught watching the OF who rightly didn't move after that bomb). How can nobody else in the somewhat smart Astros front office notice Ashby's shenanigans?
